So, after a couple weeks of research I wanted to catch everyone up, and remind you that this Monday, March 23 8:59pm is the deadline for submitting Public Comment opposing this BS!
⬇️ You can do that & LEARN MORE HERE ⬇️

Tons of info, links, maps, etc. included in ECC's Call To Action(CTA)👆🏼Alot of what I mention in this video is outlined in the 'Truth about Oregon Timber' file there. (Quick, easy read)

So, If you're curious about the combined reasons why our Logging economy fell, please check it out. (versus the decades long industry- pushed propaganda & purposeful division created by blaming it all on the spotted owl).

And, Here's a little history if you want to read more...👇🏼
First came increased automation, raw log exports, cheap labor, and the mid-80's shift to Wall-Street "Financial Forestry" that allowed huge corporations to harvest our forest's resources to near extinction while slowly kicking our locals out of the equation...
Then, due to the heavily unsustainable corporate practices of over-logging for quick returns, (on top of nearly a century of Old-Growth logging) came the NW forest plan to slow it down- so some contiguous Old Growth would be spared in order to protect the water and habitat for imperiled species including the Pacific Coho Salmon, spotted owl & more.
–That move, by the way, came first from the Head of the Siuslaw National Forest, right here at home! The local Forest Service got very worried about the terrible state the streams and rivers were in, and the massive decline of the Salmon population.–
Thus began the years of research, studies, findings, hearings, lawsuits & eventually court injunction that led to creating the NW Forest plan (93-94).
The NWFP didn't happen overnight, and it didn't happen *To* the logging industry– it happened *Because Of* the Logging industry...

"Financial forestry" (REITS & TIMO's) have continued to take over the majority of Oregon's private Forestland– And so our only chance at maintaining any good water quality, intact moist & wet forest types, and Old-Growth habitat– is to protect what we have left on public land!!

Which brings us right back to telling BLM & Bentz– NO WAY!! Absolutely NOT.
Short term returns for their Wall Street investor buddies on a lifetime of devastation for the rest of us, is a HARD PASS.

How about some good news?!

HB 4134, the “1.25% for Wildlife” bill, has passed the Oregon Senate and is now headed to Governor Tina Kotek’s desk to be signed into law.

This bill will create a dedicated funding source for conservation by modestly increasing Oregon’s statewide lodging tax by 1.25%—which will still leave the state’s tax among the lowest in the country. The funding will help the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife recover at-risk species, restore habitat, and strengthen the ecosystems that support both biodiversity and Oregon’s outdoor recreation economy.

This is a landmark moment. For years, Oregon lacked a stable funding source to protect and recover its most imperiled species and habitats. This bill changes that. It also demonstrates something important: when people speak up for wildlife, it makes a difference. THANK YOU OREGONIANS!

It is super critical that everybody who cares about having our habitat conservation plans and wildlife plans funded in Oregon, that you take action TODAY to urge your senators and Senate budget committee members to pass this bill!
It adds on a tiny new tax to transient lodging, does not take any tax income away from the hotel and tourism industry, and it still keeps Oregon at one of the lowest transient lodging taxes in the country! The final vote is on February 26, please please please please please share and call them!🙏🏼
Tons of resources are listed in this call to action below👇🏼
