Good info in this!

Concerned about toxins going into Beaver Creek, that runs through our farm, toxins going into the aquifers that feed our well, our source of drinking water, and toxins going into the land, we just learned that Lincoln County Public Works has an application process for property owners, on Lincoln County maintained roads, to not have herbicide spraying done. There is an online request form but with a limited window of submission, (Jan-March) so I sent a request to [email protected] and was able to get signage so our stretch of Fruitvale won't be sprayed.

I've heard that others were able to get all of their neighbors to join in support of no spray along their road. This method, of course, has greater impact than just getting spraying stopped on our short stretch. But it's a start, with the hopes of increasing awareness of the spraying and the agency we have, as citizens, to avoid these toxins being dispersed on the watershed and land.

💚MUSHY MOSS MOMENT💚
What hiking or mushroom hunting often looks like to me... Squishing fluffy moss pillows, laying on moss beds, sharing hugs with big ole trees, taking in the woody smells and damp air, and admiring the beauty of decaying wood and the magnitude of new life that comes from within, under, and all around it.

What a true joy lallygagging around these woods is. I sure do love them deeply, and will make sure to continue to reciprocate the health, peace and protection they give to me💚

Roadless Rule comment period ends tomorrow! Oct 6, 8:59 pm PST. This is huge one, affecting 45 million acres in the U.S. much of it in the west. Two million acres are in Oregon and most of Oregon gets drinking water from watersheds with headwaters in these "roadless" areas.
They are degraded too much already, our water is in peril.
The USFS already has a backlog of over 9 billion $ in road maintenance of over 3x as many miles of roads as the U.S. highway system-and logging as "fuels reduction" is already permitted, as is mining and temp road construction for access, and more.
The rule should get strengthened, not weakened or repealed. Especially when the current Admin is adamant about destroying our public lands for billionaire corporate gains!

The Agent Orange catastrophe did not end with the Vietnam War...
Today, the world over, a primary chemical of the toxic defoliant (dioxin) controls weeds in farming, forestry, parks, and playgrounds.
It wreaks havoc on the human genome, causing birth deformities and deadly cancers.
This investigative documentary interweaves personal with political struggles as it follows two heroic women who are leading a worldwide movement to hold manufacturers of these herbicides accountable.
In France, Tran To Nga (Trahn-Toe-Nyah) sues the American chemical industry for poisoning her in Vietnam.
In the U.S., Carol Van Strum fought the use of Agent Orange on Oregon Forests, and exposes the continuing use of toxic herbicides, many still containing dioxin.

Incriminating documents disappear.
Activists are threatened.
A helicopter technician secretly films the contamination of reservoirs.
The massive industrial cover-up continues.

Oregon Sierra Club is hosting this Free community event Saturday, Sept 26 at 5 pm on the Bayfront in Newport Oregon.
We hope you can join us for a powerful and educational evening.

Carol will have her book on the local Coast Range poisoning story, A Bitter Fog, for sale and will be signing copies when the Doors open at 5pm. She will read an excerpt from the book after the film, and books will be available after as well.
