Lords, ladies and knights of the realm we are closer and closer each day to the realization of our dream to bring the medieval tournament to the capital region of upstate New York. On this day in 1187 the Siege of Jerusalem took place. The siege on the city lasted from September 20 to October 2, 1187, when the city was surrendered to Saladin. Citizens wishing to leave paid a ransom and the defeat of Balian signaled the end of the first Kingdom of Jerusalem. Europe responded in 1189 by launching the Third Crusade led by Richard the Lionheart of England and Philip Augustus of France.

Lady Anais de Bordeaux. One of King Trisagion's most trusted knights. She led the King's army to a glorious victory on crusade in the Holy Lands. With the threat of the English looming on the borders of Rouengarde some small raids on manors and small villages were put to rest by her and a few of the King's other trusted knights. Some moons thereafter she gathered the King's best knights and invited them to the seat of their King's realm for the tournament in celebration of their victories. Invitations were sent far and wide to Lords and Ladies to come watch as chivalric men at arms from all across the lands tested their mettle.
