Nestled in the Finger Lakes region of Upstate New York, the tiny town of Savannah — home to a population of just over 1,700 year-round residents — is set to play host to the Montezuma Festival of Races. This series of races will take 5K, 10K and half marathon runners along country roads in low population density areas full of scenic views of rural Central New York. The Half Marathon will take you

into Howland Island for approximately 5 miles where you will run on unpaved (gravel) roads and some wide wooded trail. For 2022 we are excited to offer the inaugural Montezuma Ky-Tri. This 2 day event will consist of 15 mile Mtn/Gravel bike event, 5 mile Kayak event and a 10K run while the Montezuma Super Ky-Tri will consist of a 25 mile Mtn/Gravel bike event, 5 mile Kayak event and a 13.1 mile run. These combo events make up the Ky-Tri but at the same time, each event is a stand alone event meaning that you can also consider participating in these events separately. You will want to use this website to register for all running events, kayak and Ky-Tri events. If you prefer the Island 25/15 Mtn/Gravel event only please visit Island 25/15

The race will benefit the important work and efforts of the Savannah Fire Department, the host of this year's Montezuma Festival of Races as well as the Friends of Montezuma, working to help preserve and improve the Montezuma Wetland Refuge.

The Montezuma Festival of Races is on Sunday June 2, 2024. It includes the following events: Montezuma Half Marathon, Montezuma 10K, Montezuma 5K, Montezuma Half Marathon Virtual, Montezuma 10K Virtual, and Montezuma 5K Virtual.

Island 25/15 registration is open!

Join us for the 4th annual Island 25 or Island 15 Bike Race on Howland Island- part of the Northern Montezuma Wildlife Management Area on Saturday, June 1, 2024. A great warm up event for the Black Fly Challenge the following week. This year's participant giveaway will include a custom shirt and a pair of custom socks guaranteed to help you peddle faster!
