Congratulations to our 2026 Savannah Juneteenth Fine Arts Festival Committee member, Kareem McMichael on this huge accomplishment!

From student storyteller to mentor, educator and digital media professional, Kareem McMichael continues to make an impact both on campus and beyond. 🐯✨

A proud Savannah State University alumnus, Kareem earned his degree in Mass Communications in 2009, where he sharpened his skills as a reporter, anchor, producer and campus leader. Today, he serves as Online Content Manager in the Department of Journalism & Mass Communications, helping shape the next generation of communicators while advising The Tiger's Roar and co-advising PRSSA-SSU.

Recently, Kareem took the TEDxSavannah stage to share his talk, Shaping the Future—a reflection of his commitment to innovation, storytelling and empowering others through communication.

Whether he's creating content, mentoring students or representing Savannah State on larger platforms, Kareem embodies what it means to be a Tiger Trailblazer.

Throughout the month of June, we’ll not only celebrate our history, but learn how to better prepare for our future. As part of the 2026 Savannah Juneteenth Fine Arts Festival, our upcoming Lunch & Learn, Freedom Passed Down: Protecting Our Legacy Through Heirs Property, presented by Cimone’ Adams and Community Housing Services Agency (CHSA), Community Housing Services Agency will do just that.

Tuesday, June 10th | 11:30 AM

Free and open to the public. Lunch and parking will be provided. The session will be held in Downtown Savannah, with the location provided upon registration.
