Theme: Mission Possible II – Building Community, Uniting a Nation in a Non-Violent Way
Santa Rosa, CA — January 18, 2026 — The Santa Rosa community is invited to attend the 43rd Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration, an evening dedicated to honoring the life, ministry, and enduring legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through faith, reflection, and collective recommitment to nonviolence and justice.
The 2026 celebration will be hosted by Community Baptist Church of Santa Rosa, with sincere appreciation extended to Rev. Lee Turner for his leadership and continued commitment to advancing Dr. King’s faith-centered vision of justice, reconciliation, and community unity.
The event will take place on Sunday, January 18, 2026, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Community Baptist Church, located at 1620 Sonoma Avenue, Santa Rosa, California.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a pastor, theologian, and servant-leader whose work in the Civil Rights Movement was firmly rooted in Christian faith and guided by the teachings of Jesus Christ. His philosophy of nonviolence was grounded in love, moral courage, and the belief that the church must serve as the conscience of the nation. Dr. King’s vision of the Beloved Community continues to call faith communities to pursue justice, peace, and dignity for all people.
The theme for the 2026 celebration, Mission Possible II: Building Community, Uniting a Nation in a Non-Violent Way, affirms that meaningful change remains achievable when individuals and institutions act with compassion, humility, and shared responsibility. The theme reflects the ongoing role of the church in strengthening communities and fostering reconciliation during times of division.
The keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Byron Reaves, who will offer a faith-informed reflection on Dr. King’s ministry and the continued relevance of nonviolent leadership in today’s social and moral landscape. His message will emphasize the sacred responsibility of communities of faith to translate belief into action.
Now in its 43rd year, the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration in Santa Rosa remains a longstanding tradition that brings together congregations, families, community leaders, and residents for an evening of remembrance, worship, and renewal.
The celebration is free and open to the public, and all members of the community are encouraged to attend.
