Zozobra’s Public Stuff Day is a Santa Fe rite of passage. It’s the kind of memory that sticks: helping fill a 50-foot marionette with paper glooms, eating pizza with friends and neighbors, and knowing you were part of something only Santa Fe does.
Bring the whole family — all ages welcome.

Old Man Gloom may not have a mother to celebrate — just his father, “Shus” — so Zozobra won’t be sending any Mother’s Day wishes this year. But we will! 💐

To all the mothers, grandmothers,
godmothers, stepmothers, and mother-figures in our Santa Fe community: thank you. Thank you for the love you pour out, the patience you somehow always find, the lessons you teach (even the ones we didn’t want to hear at the time), and the strength you carry for everyone around you.

You are the heart of our families, the keepers of our traditions, and the reason so many of us know what unconditional love looks like. Today we celebrate you — and we hope you feel as cherished as you’ve made the rest of us feel every single day.

Trash to Treasure Art Challenge for K-5th Grade!!!

Kids, what can YOU make out of trash? For once, Zozobra doesn't care if it's not about him, but you can get rid of some gloom by collecting safe, reusable items to make something beautiful!

This fun contest ends June 1, 2026. Turn everyday “trash” into creative art and help keep our state beautiful. How it works: Collect safe, reusable items → create your artwork → submit your artwork online with a short note on litter prevention.

Today's Wednesday Wisdom? Get involved!

New Mexico High School students YOU are invited to the Young Ambassador Beautification Summit on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 9:00am to 3:30pm at the National Hispanic Cultural Center.

This special event is open and free to the first 100 NM high-school-aged students, with free breakfast and lunch provided. The day will be filled with inspiring workshops, activities, a community service project and prizes as students learn to lead anti-litter and beautification efforts in our amazing state.

Some traditions you don't just build — you stitch them together, one steady hand at a time. 🧵👻
Today our Zozobra 102 volunteers gathered to sew the ghost tail that will trail behind Old Man Gloom this September — yards and yards of fabric, plenty of laughs, and a whole lot of love poured into every seam. We even snuck in some signatures on the muslin (because every Zozobra has a story, and this year's story has YOUR name on it).
🎉 Want in on the next chapter? Join us for Stuffing Day — the day we fill Old Man Gloom with all the worries, regrets, and bad vibes you're ready to send up in flames. Bring your gloom, bring your friends, and help us pack him full before he meets his fiery fate on September 4. Every handful of stuffing is a little piece of catharsis. 💀✨
To everyone who showed up today — thank you for keeping the magic alive. 102 years in, and the gloom's still got nothing on us.
