Well folks, you can’t say that we didn’t warn you. After an amazing run of years, we are saying goodbye to our Crest Ranch venue this season. Due to a variety of foreseen circumstances, hosting a race there is unlikely to be feasible in the future, and Surf City is going to move on to other pastures in 2027. Now before you sink into the pit of despair, think of all the positive things. First of all, you can still experience this world famous cyclocross rodeo and campout festival venue one last time on October 24-25. We’re pulling out all the stops including the family friendly (and unfriendly) features that you’ve come to love or hate such as the costume race, pixie bike world championships, live bands, bonfires, and maybe just maybe even be a tip of the hat to some form of jungle cross on one of the days. This years theme is blowout reunion party. And all participants are expected to be on their worst behavior (like in the most respectful way possible). We wanna see those team tents, course-side BBQ hot dog handups, noise makers, and all the vibes that make cyclocross the lovely bastard child of the bike racing world.
Due to limited space, camping is capped at 150 people this year. Registration is open. Don’t sleep on it.
In other good news, the Bay Area Super Prestige Series has a stellar lineup of 8 race days this Fall including a return of the iconic Coyote Point season finale.
We’ll have more to share, including the story of Crest Ranch and future directions for Surf City Cyclocross, in the coming month. But for now, mark your calendars and get ready for a big season…
Surf City Cyclocross returns to Crest Ranch Christmas Tree Farm, in the mountains above Santa Cruz! We’re hosting a two-day event with racing on Saturday and Sunday. Camping will be available at the venue on Friday and Saturday night. Plan to stay and join the party!
