Join the fun at our next garden party and work day at the Santa Cruz Live Oak Grange on Saturday, May 23 at 10:00 am! Help us clean up and beautify our property!

We'll appreciate help with the following tasks:

continue preparing the raised bed for the dwarf tomato project,
w**ding, w**ding everywhere!
applying mulch to the California native plants garden,
applying mulch around fruit trees and perennial beds and on pathways
We have tools at the Grange, including shovels, rakes, pitchforks, pruners, and a couple of wheel barrows. Bring your own tools too along with your gloves, hats, boots (or closed-toe shoes), eye and ear protection (as needed), and water.

A free, delicious lunch will be served around noon.

Use the attached map to become more familiar with the property and choose an area to help beautify.

Our monthly Site Team meeting will begin shortly afterwards at 2:30 pm.

TOMORROW, APRIL 4th!

The Live Oak Grange Dwarf Tomato Project committee invites all Grange members and friends to participate in Grange garden work party on Saturday, April 4, 3-4pm, where we will w**d and prepare a bed for the demonstration garden, create signage for each variety, and plant the dwarf tomato seeds in the greenhouse. If you can't attend, but want to join the committee, please reply with an email or call Deborah Calloway at 408.781.7815.

The Benefits of Dwarf tomatoes
Plants are sturdy, attractive and productive!
Plants vary in height from 2 to 4.5 feet, requiring less caging or trellising.
Dark and dense (rugose) foliage, thick central stem.
Tomatoes of all sizes and shapes, including some large fruits up to 18 ounces.

Dwarf Tomato Project - March 8, 1-2pm meeting.

The SCLOG Dwarf Tomato Project will encourage current members and invite new members to participate in a dwarf tomato demonstration garden and seed saving.

The first meeting of the committee will take place in the Live Oak Grange garden on Sunday, March 8 at 1pm. At the meeting, the committee will:
*Decide what dwarf seeds we want to grow
*Clear a space in the greenhouse for seed starting
*Plan a location for the demonstration in the Grange garden
*Discuss ideas for how plants will be distributed to community members.

Grange members and friends are encouraged to join and support the committee's work!

tree removal (2) - by the south fence near the row garden and by the east fence near the chicken coop
w**ding, w**ding everywhere!
applying mulch to the California native plants garden
applying mulch around fruit trees and perennial beds and on pathways
planting fruit tree root stocks (6)
We have tools at the Grange, including shovels, rakes, pitchforks, pruners, and a couple of wheel barrows. Bring your own tools too along with your gloves, hats, boots (or closed-toe shoes), eye and ear protection (as needed), and water.

A free, delicious lunch will be served around noon.

The Live Oak Grange Immigrant Rights Committee is sponsoring a de-escalation training with YARR (Your Active Rapid Response). YARR's mission is to document actions by ICE or other oppressive forces that would harm our fellow human beings, and to support targeted people with resources, community presence, and information before, during and after such events. All Grange members are welcome to register and attend - please note that registration is required! More information in English and Spanish is below.
