Enter a world of inspiration at 'Futuring (Art for Building New Worlds),' a multimedia art exhibition at Earth Edition this weekend at CalArts.

Participating artists include Emma Akmakdjian, Maru Garcia, Sanna Bucht-Akmakdjian, Lisa Banta, Betty Beaumont, Isabel Beavers, Crenshaw Dairy Mart, Folly Feast Lab, Emory Hall, Sarah Rothberg, T.Y Yi Tang, ZhenZhen Zhong, Marina Zurkow, James Schmitz, Beatriz Cortez, Tatiana Guerrero, Phillip Byrne , Benjamin Cortez, Paige Emery, Leslie Labowitz Starus, Michele Lorusso, Ruben Ochoa, Cam La, Ella Rosenblatt, Roya Ziba, Rebecca Baron, Douglas Goodwin, Andrea Bowers, Lauren Bon and the Metabolic Studio, Alice Bucknell, Julian Castronovo, Suzanne Lacy, Alexia de Montalembert, Lucas de Montalembert, Mark Dorf, Lauren Fong, Christine Gaffney, C. Join us at the Indigenous Deep Knowledge Circle at Earth Edition, next week at CalArts.⁠

Led by Chad Hamill, Executive Director for Indigenous Arts & Expression at CalArts, the dome of the Indigenous Deep Knowledge Circle is rooted in the cultural traditions of the Fernandeño Tataviam Band of Mission Indians (the Chaguayavitam), the First Peoples of Santa Clarita where CalArts is located.⁠
⁠
The Indigenous Deep Knowledge Circle features "'We'aashar 'Atuukshe' - The Shade of the Oak," a site-specific by artist Mercedes Dorame (Tongva). This installation is an invitation to engage the we inhabit, to look up and observe the movement of the sun, and to remember the First Peoples who hold ancestral knowledge that is vital to our collective future.⁠

The form of the Indigenous Deep Knowledge Circle is reminiscent of pre-contact homes, with sounds and videos centered on the cycles of Mother Earth, emphasizing the of all living things. ⁠
