Come and join us for a one-night-only event full of glitz, glamour, and ballroom dancing! After a two-year break, the students and professional dancers of the Arthur Murray Dance Studios in Santa Barbara are excited to invite you back to enjoy a cornucopia of theatrical routines and beautiful dancing. From sizzling salsa performances to sensual and romantic rumba routines there is something for every mood and every taste. Dancers range from brand new students who show off how much you can accomplish within a few months to accomplished competitive dancers who travel the world and wow audiences with their impressive skills.

Whether you are a ballroom dancer yourself, someone who is curious about this fascinating hobby, or just here to cheer on your friends and relatives, you are guaranteed to enjoy an exciting evening filled with laughter, tears, and anything in between. Let us show you the diverse and exhilarating world of couples dancing and show you the many ways you can enjoy this beautiful hobby.

Ballet22 Deconstructs Tradition and Presents Classical Ballet Through a New Lens!

Ballet22, a groundbreaking dance company presenting works that break gender normative traditions in the classical repertoire, announce their summer 2021 season of digital and live performances.

August 27, 2021 - 7:00pm at Center Stage Theater above Paseo Nuevo Mall.

With a clear mission to create equal representation in the professional ballet field for men, mxn, transgender, and non-binary artists to perform professionally and “en pointe,” the season will recreate classical ballet repertoire works like Le Corsaire, Giselle, Carmen, Paquita in the historically accurate choreography to showcase the masterful technique of the artists while challenging heteronormative roles and costuming.

MEET OUR ARTISTIC DIRECTOR, CURATOR, WRITER, AND PERFORMER, NOAH LASHLY!

Noah Lashly (writer/performer This Might Seem Stupid & playwright/performer What to do When You’re Caught in the Middle of a Wildfire) is a writer from Ojai, California. His work has been featured in Cagibi Literary Magazine, Allegory Ridge Magazine, Array Photo Journal, The Aonian, The Dewdrop, Beyond Words Magazine, and in Speaking of Stories at Center Stage Theater, and on The Townies Podcast. His radio play, produced through Eastside Q***r Stories and Q Youth Foundation, is available on Spotify. He is also the producer of the Comedy/Party Thing at Kim Maxwell Studio.

MEET THE WRITERS AND PERFORMERS!

Lily Brown (writer/performer The High Cost) is an actor, writer, director, dramaturg, and story nerd from Ojai, California. She has a degree in Spanish, Drama and Political Science from Bennington College. Now residing in Los Angeles, Lily is a Company Member at Pacific Resident Theater, most recently appearing on the PRT stage in All My Sons in March 2020, just before the *you know what*. She has appeared in a number of festival-bound short films and in 2017 Lily attended THREAD at Yale, a highly selective multimedia storytelling program offered each summer at Yale University. Lily currently serves as the Producing Director at The Townies, Inc. and is honored to perform alongside such an incredible cast of artists.
