Riverside Dash 5K, 15K, Kids Dash *Update*

We wanted to let everyone know what is going on behind the scenes. In November 2022 last year, we asked the City of Sanford about filing a permit for this event in the Spring 2023. That request was declined because at the time, Seminole Blvd was still flooded and the City had plans to fix Seminole Blvd and surrounding areas from January to June.

We thought about moving to Gemini Springs, but that was in conflict with a 5K and 10K happening on April 15 which is a great race to join if you haven't already.

We will be reaching out the City of Sanford this month and see what is available for late September this year or February/March 2024.

We can't wait to have this race again and be back on a regular, annual event schedule. We will keep you updated and try to post more often.

Thanks to all that have reached out to us. 😁

2022 Riverside Dash-

We wanted to send out an update for Riverside Dash 5K, 15K, Kids Dash. We have decided to postpone the April 2022 race. Rest assured, this event is not going away. Several factors went into making this difficult decision.

On an event level, we had a tough hit financially when the 2020 race was cancelled two weeks before the event due to COVID. But, we still had some profit although significantly less than prior years. Then, we thought we were in the clear for the 2021 race in September and the Delta variant and supply chain challenges actually caused us to lose money on the event. As we were preparing for 2022, we were already running into issues with medals and timing chips supplies. The rise of the Omicron variant also wasn't giving us a lot of confidence that we would be in good shape for this event either.

On a personal level, the main point person for this event had COVID two days before Christmas which was then followed by the passing of his dad. It was a one two punch in the gut at the time when most of the prep work for this event would be taking place.

In the coming weeks, we will be surveying our Facebook followers as to preferences of when we should be having this event (move to September permanently, postpone until April 2023 or is there another time of year that you would like to see this event) and also if there is a preference of day (Saturday or Sunday).

We greatly appreciate everyone who has participated and/or volunteered with this event. We look forward to seeing you all again soon. ❤️
