Good Morning! Championship weekend is upon us and good times are planned. Temperatures are forecasted to be in the mid 60’s to low 70’s with very little chance of rain. Of most importance is the wind is forecasted to come sweeping down the plains at high rates of speed. Be prepared! A couple of years ago we had a wind event with several tents damaged as a result. Plan to take extra measures to secure your tents. Also I plan to move the focal point of the event from its usual place at the east end of the venue site to the west end to make it more family friendly and put the cooks close to the playground for children and close to restrooms and picnic tables and covered shelter. Plenty of room for trucks and trailers. You can setup your cook site up on the inside of the grass oval but please keep your trucks on the concrete or outside the oval which is only steps away. Hasty bake will have there Smoke Wagon Trailer on site and be preparing breakfast and lunch for the cook teams and judges on Saturday. Donna Bond and her crew will have a breakfast bar open during breakfast with mimosas, bloody Mary’s and screwdrivers as well as non-alchoholic beverages. We look forward to having each of you at our Championship! We truly appreciate each of you that chose to spend you weekend competing at our event. Safe travels as you journey to our city to spend the weekend “Living on Tulsa Time!”

Our Oklahoma State Championship is just over one week away. To qualify for Saturday afternoon’s Big Championship you need only to arrive in Tulsa Friday and compete in the Tripp Haggard Memorial Event or cook Saturday morning in the Oklahoma Open and by doing so you have earned the right to compete Saturday afternoon for the prestigious and coveted “Black Hat” as you are crowned the new Oklahoma State Champion! 3 Golden Tickets in steak and 1 in ancillary are up for grabs. The Hasty Bake Charcoal Grills-Smoke Wagon will be on site and serving breakfast and lunch on Saturday. Good times are in store. We hear all the time about the tremendous cooks in the North, South, East and West….make a road trip to Tulsa, Oklahoma for this Triple Event at a wonderful venue, and join in the fun! We promise a great time! Good payouts, good trophies, giveaways and a visit from Brett Gallaway, The Steak OG!
