A 2-day hackathon where students from a variety of majors and members of the SLO community can collaborate to create an app/website/product to solve real civic-based issues with the help of our Community Heroes OUR MISSION: To challenge & provide a platform for designers, developers, and entrepreneurs to solve civic-based issues alongside community members.

There are just a few more spots available to join the Camp PolyHacks Hackathon this weekend!

Sign up for a FREE interdisciplinary event that will bring together students from colleges across the colleges of liberal arts, business, engineering, and beyond to hack together solutions to pressing problems facing SLO.

This year, we are focusing on remote workers, climate change, and access to social services with speakers from the SLO Office of Sustainability, Workiva, and CAPSLO.

Did we mention that we will also have free catered meals from places like Petra, Old SLO BBQ, and and more?!

MEET THE TEAM MONDAY

Even though our event has been postponed, our events team is still hard at work behind the scenes putting together an amazing event for all of us!

🌊 Meet Krishnanshu Gupta, one of our Event and Logistics team members. Krish is a first-year, Computer Science major and his favorite class at Cal Poly so far has been BUS 310: Intro to Entrepreneurship

🌶 His favorite study snack is Hot Cheetos (spicy but delicious!) and the most recent song he’s listened to is “Sacrifice” by The Weeknd

💻when asked why he joined the team Krish said, "After participating in several hackathons and even organizing an online event, I wanted to experience working in a team to bring an enjoyable in-person event to fruition, especially during our current circumstances."

Krish has been an invaluable wealth of knowledge for our team and we can’t wait to show you all the event we’ve been planning!

⛰Meet Christian Perry, one or our design team members. Christian is a senior Communication Studies student and his favorite class so far has been COMS 422: Rhetorics of Science, Tecnology, and Medicine.

🥭His favorite study snack is frozen mango (so tasty!) and the last song he listened to was “Bad Habits” by Ed Sheeran.

💻When we aske led Christian why he joined the Camp PolyHacks team he shared, “To learn how I can apply my COMS major to the tech field”.

MEET THE TEAM MONDAY

🌸 Meet our Events Manager, Zoila Kanu! She a is first year Computer Science major. Her favorite class at Cal Poly so far has been CPE 123: Introduction To Computing Arts.

🍇 Her favorite study snack is frozen grapes (ooo yum!) and the last song she listened to was
“Better Distractions” by Faye Webster.

💻 When we asked Zoila why she joined the Camp Polyhacks team she shared, “I have always wanted to learn more about the tech industry and organizing a hackathon helps me do so. Camp Poly Hacks brings people from all different majors to work together which also attracted me to be part of this awesome team!”

🗓 Zoila and the rest of our events team are working hard to put together the finishing touches for our event on January 14th. Can’t wait to see you there!
