Enjoy dance, music and poetry from the Silk Road including Iran, Afghanistan, Armenia, China, India, Azerbaijan, Egypt, the Balkans, the Roma & more... Festival of the Silk Road - 2014 unites stellar dance and music artists to celebrate the rich cultural traditions of the Silk Road. These historic trade routes stretched 7,000 miles across Eurasia from the China Sea in the east to the Mediterranean in the west, an epic cross-pollination of ideas and creativity! 1pm - 6pm Free in the lovely Gardens! Folkdancing, Music, Arts & Crafts, International Food Court and Family Fun 3 - 4:30pm Afternoon Concert, & 6 - 8pm Evening Concert! Ticketed performances featuring master performing artists from across the Bay Area and around the world. One ticket price for an all day pass to the Theater Concerts! 1:00pm - 6pm In the Gardens Festivities begin at 1pm with daytime fun in the beautiful Gardens, two ticketed concert performances take place in the lovely 500 seat theater. From 1-6pm in the gardens enjoy the International Food Court including Halal favorites, costume exhibits, and a Silk Road Bazaar offering traditional clothing, jewelry and art, plus exciting dance and music workshops. Free performances and folk dancing all afternoon with many special guests, Armenian dancer and vocalist Hasmik Harutyunyan, Edessa Balkan/Greek/Mid-East dance tunes, along with plenty of Folk Dance Mania with the Folkdance Federation of N. California, Azerbaijani dance with Chichaklar Dance Group of Vancouver Canada. Come picnic on the lawn under the palm trees and roses with family and friends!
