What a journey!

Thank you to everyone who attended the 2026 Designing Forward senior show! And a big thank you everyone who supported us students not just the past semester, but the past few years leading up to this point. We couldn’t have done it without you all. This is only just the beginning, and we can’t wait to see where this next chapter takes us!

“My creative journey began with spilled paint on carpeted floor, when 4-year-old me tried to paint my cardboard fort that I made for my stuffed animals. From then on, I continued exploring the world of arts and crafts, which eventually led me to Industrial Design! Growing up in the Bay Area, the diversity and innovative energy of my community fueled my passion to create and add something meaningful to this world. Being raised by immigrant parents taught me resilience and perseverance, and I hope to give back to the people who gave everything for me to be here by making the world a better place.”

“Since I was young, I’ve always had a passion for creating. Growing up with an Engineer father and a Mother who always encouranged my creativity, Industrial Design ended up being the tool that unraveled the knotted strings of ideas that run through my mind. Knowing that I can make a difference in someone’s life always keeps me going, as the smallest details can make someone’s perception of an experience or product that much more. As a longtime lover of toys and all that is whimsial in the world, I want to bring a splash of color to any opportunity that presents itself!”

Designer spotlight, Alejandra Ramirez

“I’m drawn to industrial design because it turns empathy and ideas into something real—something you can hold, test, and improve. I’ve always loved helping people, whether that means solving a bigger problem or making everyday moments more fun. My process starts with curiosity: observing real behavior, asking better questions, and noticing what frustrates people and what they wish worked differently. I’m happiest when I get to see a design come to life through a refined sketch or a prototype, when creativity becomes reality. I’m inspired by design that creates impact without losing joy.“

Designer spotlight, Alexis Villena ✨

“Creating, learning, and watching the SF Giants win 3 World Series make up my childhood core memories. Despite the Giants not winning since then, creating and learning stay consistent in my life. Whether it’s creating products or experiences, this program taught me that good design creates a feeling. From the good, the bad, and all the emotions in between, I’m passionate about creating good design for my friends, family, and hopefully for the Giants to win the World Series again someday. ”
