George “Fiji” Veikoso was more than a musician —
he was the voice of the people and the heartbeat of the Pacific.
He gave us representation when the world tried to erase us.
He sang in iTaukei, Samoan, Tongan, and Māori — not for performance, but to honor Indigenous life and share our story with pride and power.
He broke racial barriers and built bridges between generations, islands, and cultures.
His music reminded us that our languages, our stories, and our ancestors belong on every stage and every sound system, everywhere.
His voice was our anchor — echoing from church dances, backyard BBQs and long road trips, to flag weeks, graduation celebrations, funeral processions, and moments of first love. He is the soundtrack of generations — binding us through joy and heartbreak, family and faith, laughter and loss.
His lyrics spoke truth:
About faith and deception, how missionaries reshaped our way of life.
About the trauma of colonization and the fight to take back what was stolen.
But through his voice, we also heard resistance — a call to reclaim our spirituality, our languages, and our lands.
He didn’t just sing to us — gave us a sense of belonging. To know that our stories matter, that we belong, and that healing is possible.
Fiji’s songs brought healing. They carried the broken, the homesick, and the hopeful. They gave people space to grieve, to breathe, and to belong.
His voice is the revolution.
Even as his name echoed from Fiji to Hawai‘i to the farthest corners of the diaspora, Fiji stayed grounded — a mentor, a movement-builder. He shaped generations of Artists. Creators. Educators. Advocators. Change makers. Wavemakers. Visionaries Revolutionaries.
He was one of the first to believe in Pacific Feats Festival — and every year,
he stood with us as the heart of the movement. He gave Pacific Feats its rhythm, its soul, and its courage to rise.
For Pacific by Pacific.
Fiji’s legacy is more than music — it’s a call to pride, healing, and liberation. Fiji is the revolution.
Vinaka vaka levu, George “Fiji” Veikoso.
Warrior of Love.
Forever the Godfather.
Forever our voice.
Forever our home.
