🇺🇸 The San Francisco War Memorial & Performing Arts Center stands not just as a landmark of culture and art — but as a sacred tribute to those who gave everything so we could gather here freely. Today, we pause.

On this Memorial Day, we honor the fallen. The ones who never came home. The ones whose names are etched in stone and memory, whose courage carved the path for generations to come.

This building has witnessed history — from the signing of the United Nations Charter to countless performances that move the human spirit. But above all, it moves us to remember.

Take a moment today, wherever you are, to reflect. Light a candle. Say a name. Hold someone close.

Freedom is never free. Honor is forever. 🕊️

Music Director Jessica Bejarano and the San Francisco Philharmonic close their season with an unforgettable evening of passion, brilliance, and sweeping orchestral power.

The concert opens with Marche Slave, one of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s most electrifying works—a thrilling musical journey from darkness to triumph, filled with soaring melodies, thunderous climaxes, and a finale that will shake the hall.

Then, acclaimed soloist Anne Richardson, Associate Principal Cello of the San Francisco Symphony, brings warmth, elegance, and virtuosic brilliance to Tchaikovsky’s beloved Variations on a Rococo Theme—a dazzling showcase of lyrical beauty and expressive artistry.

The evening culminates with Edward Elgar’s monumental Enigma Variations, a masterpiece of mystery, emotion, and cinematic grandeur. Each variation paints a vivid musical portrait—tender, playful, noble, and deeply moving—building toward the transcendent majesty of “Nimrod,” one of the most beloved moments in all orchestral music. Featured in countless iconic films, this unforgettable work speaks directly to the human spirit.

Some stages hold history. Some performances make it. To witness such extraordinary artists tell this story in this space was nothing short of a privilege. ✨

Angel Island Project at the Herbst Theatre was both — a breathtaking collision of place and purpose, where every movement carried the weight of lives once silenced. Grateful doesn’t begin to cover it.

We truly hope that Oakland Ballet continues to bring their beautiful artistry and talents to our SF audiences.

Make sure to follow and catch an upcoming performance!
