Mark Jackson hosts a info meeting about new performance making MFA opportunities at the California Institute of Integral Studies!

Mark Jackson invites you to attend an informal informational meeting with myself and Carolyn Cooke of the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS). We’ll be talking about two exciting opportunities for those of you interested in creating your own original work for theater, dance, and performance.

CIIS is partnering with the renowned University of Chichester (UK) to offer two weeklong Theater & Performance Making intensives this coming June 23rd to July 6th. The intensives will culminate in a public sharing of work at Z Space. Last year’s summer 2013 intensive was a huge success, with a sold-out sharing of work by a variety of local theater, dance, drag, and performance artists. We expect the 2014 intensives to be as exciting.

In addition, CIIS and Chichester are establishing a MFA in Theater & Performance Making, or “devised” theater as it is more often called in the states. The MFA will commence in 2015. In June of that year, the first class of the new Theater & Performance Making MFA will commence their two-year program, during which they’ll create new work that premieres in San Francisco and tours to the UK.

A girl found murdered in the cellar on Christmas morning.
A massacre at the high school.
The grownups of the community want to forget,
but the children have begun to meet at midnight…to remember.

Rob Handel recently made a splash in the Bay Area theater scene when Just Theater staged his labyrinthine A Maze.

Now, 99 Stock’s Artistic Director Michael Saarela is ready to delve into Handel’s cautionary tale about the dangers of burying the past and the extreme lengths some will go through to exhume it.

Short notice film shoot, but sounds fun! Director will provide transport, food, and $! E-mail PC at [email protected] for more info:
"My name is Kyle Bender, I am a student at USF looking for a male actor to star in my student film. The film is a mockumentary about an aspiring rapper who is delusional in his aspirations because he is not very talented and does not fit the part of being the rapper he is trying to be. The film is going to be about 5 minutes long and will require two days of filming (probably 3-5 hours each day). I can provide transportation, food, and will pay cash depending on the total time it takes to film (probably around 7 dollars an hour). I know it is short notice but I am hoping to start filming as soon as today, but would be to start filming on Saturday the 23rd and Sunday the 24th. There probably would be a brief one hour night shoot during the upcoming week as well. "
