Excited about the Spiral Dance TODAY!. The altars, music and drive are going to be beautiful, powerful and magical. We need it all! Come to the Richmond Auditorium at 4pm for the reading of names of our beloved dead and ritual at 5. Goddess willing we will also be seen on our Facebook Live feed and website. Blessed be!

The ritual is really shaping up to build with potent creativity. Join Starhawk, Suzanne Sterling and Urania in trance, and Evelie and the chorus in song. The ritual planning cell has envisioned a novel element for this year's Spiral Dance that will help us weave our magic into cultures of co-resistance and love.
See you in Richmond this Saturday! Doors actually open at 3:30. Beloved Dead reading at 4:00. Ritual at 5:00 pm (Pacific Time). Details of livestreaming will be shared soon.
Eventbrite and Paypal were not our preference, and to add insult to injury, their platforms have been glitchy for some people trying to register and donate.
If you register (Thank you. We need you!) and get a confirmation email, ignore any future emails suggesting that we might need more info. Don't worry. You're in.
We are not requiring masks. Masks are encouraged. Honestly, we wouldn't be able to enforce it. (Jim's opinion) We are, however, requiring that people show a date stamped negative covid test or take a test that we will have available on a donation basis when you arrive.
Altars will be scent-free to be welcoming and accessible. We ask that we all come scent free in the same spirit. Sign language interpretation will be provided.
The venue is fully accessible.
Reclaiming rituals are drug and alcohol free.
If you want a name read OF SOMEONE WHO CROSSED OVER SINCE LAST YEAR'S SPIRAL DANCE, the "dead"line for submitting their name is Thursday, 9 pm Pacific. After that, you might need to call out their name during the Beloved Dead ritual invocation this year, and know that names received late will be read next year too. Until our eyes meet in the Spiral, Blessed Be!

Hey everyone! Two fun things happening at Spiral Dance:

1) it’s the return of the Witchlets bake sale! Treats made by your favorite young witches will be available for sale before the event. Grab yourself a sweet treat!

2) As part of the bake sale, Witchlets is also hosting a food donation collection for the Contra Costa food bank. Many millions of people are set to lose their SNAP benefits the day of Spiral Dance. Let’s show them witches care! More i fo on what to donate / not donate here, but essentially its non-perishable food, not in glass, not more than one year expired.

I am anchoring the Beloved Pets altar at the Spiral Dance this year. With the passing of Otis on 01/01/25 and Marco on 04/07/25, it was a rough start to the year. I am grateful to have ritual and community to hold some of the grief. Samhain is a time to honor our Beloved Dead who passed since last Samhain and Beloved Pets are a part of that. Any pet momentos, pictures, toys, any rememberance of them is welcome to be placed on the altar at the Spiral Dance. There will also be paper and markers to write or draw an offering to our Beloved Pets who have crossed the veil. Please be sure to pick up your altar items at the end of the Spiral Dance. Paper offerings will be burned in a ritual fire if not taken home. If you can’t attend in person and want to send a photo to be placed on the altar please email me at [email protected]

Woa…The Heart does its own “spiral dance”!

THE HEART IS NOT A PUMP: "Many of us live under the medical myth that the heart is a pump, an idea borne of an industrialised culture that views the body as a machine.

The heart however is so much more beautiful and fascinating than we ever could have imagined!

“Modern analysis of the heart has shown that in spite of the fact that the most powerful ventricle of the heart can shoot water six feet into the air, the amount of pressure actually needed to force the blood through the entire length of the body’s blood vessels would have to be able to lift a one hundred pound weight one mile high” - Stephen Buhner

So how does the blood move around the labyrinth-like vessels of our body?

It moves of its own accord.

You see, blood flow is not a simple stream like we once thought.
It is in fact composed of two streams, spiralling around each other much like the image of a DNA double helix, at the centre of which is a vacuum.

“Blood flow through living vessels is much more like a tornado than anything else: Such a vacuum is necessary for producing a vortex” - Stephen Buhner

How cool is that?

This spiral dance is not only found in the bloodstream, but also in the blood cell itself!

Blood cell’s in fact spin on their own individual axes of rotation. They are smaller spinning cells in a larger spinning vortex.

If your mind is not blown yet, let’s go back to the heart.

The heart itself has recently been discovered not to be a mass of muscle, but rather a ‘helicoidal myocardial band’ that has spiralled in upon itself, creating its unique shape and its separate chambers.

Pair this with discoveries that the heart functions as an endocrine gland, has its own nervous system that makes and releases its own neurotransmitters, and emits an electromagnetic field that is far stronger than the brain’s, and we begin to move from the idea that the heart is simply a mechanical pump.

It is a spiraling organ of perception.
