Yes, April 22nd brings the return of San Francisco’s legendary Wicked Sound System. After a healthy 3 year hiatus we’re back, refreshed, reconfigured & ready for a proper love-filled birthday boogie with our family & friends. April marks 32 years since the first heady Wicked jams at BPM Records & the Jessie St basement, so we’re excited to be teaming up with our bighearted friend Alan Aranoff & his revived & reworked space, The Foundry on Folsom St. New venue, new sound, new visuals, means an inspiring backdrop for the current DJ crew - Thomas, Markie & Jenö - to weave their unique energies into a jammin’ night of mercurial Wickedness. We’re extra psyched to be bringing a live musical component to the proceedings, something we’ve been talking about doing for a number of years, with Sunshine Jones & Tranquil Elephantizer both making their Wicked guest debuts. Local legend Sunshine will be bringing his musical spaceship and performing a 100% live set dedicated to Wicked, while Tranquil Elephantizer will be throwing down a specially prepared “IN DUB” version of his Cutoff Freq album, recently released on Wicked Records. They’ll also be sharing several unreleased cuts and remixes from Wicked, making this a label showcase you don’t want to miss. We’re planning on an 8pm kickoff, and we’ll go as late as the venue allows, but please check back for more info. Tickets (some discounted) are available via https://ra.co/events/1673970. GRAB 'EM WHILE YOU CAN, the modest venue size means we could easily sell out. All aboard! With love from Wicked.

Pretty sweet video of Danny MacAskill trickin' around SF. Danny did part of his shoot in Yerba Buena Gardens, which didn't make it to the final cut (but was still sweet). Had a great time meeting him and the crew and spending the day in the Gardens with them, and then again along Islais Creek (the old SuperHero Street Fair location), which is in the video. Until next time ...

The organizers have each lived in San Francisco for over 25 years and work to affect positive change in our community!

Newly enforced regulations in San Francisco are making events like SuperHero harder to produce. The area of friction is the difficult line between greater population density and therefore stronger enforcement of the many varied city regulations, and the work of doing independent non-sponsorship driven privately funded events that take a huge amount of personal risk for the organizers under more and more difficult conditions. We place no blame on city agencies and the staff we have worked with for years ... almost all of them have been, and are, great to work with. We hope to be back in full force for 2019, which also marks our 10 year Anniversary! The planned venue is the nightclub Great Northern, centrally located in San Francisco at 119 Utah street between 15th street and Alameda. We will have a block party on the streets surrounding Great Northern, with music, Cosplay fashion shows, cool exhibits and more. Expect great vendors, art cars, rocking outdoor stages, SuperHero related exhibits, costumes and awards, and delicious food trucks. To infinity and beyond ...
