We’ve been holding onto this one for a long time.

Poets Underground is proud to officially announce the first ever CV Slam Fest, a one day poetry slam festival coming to Chula Vista on April 25, 2026.

This event is made possible through support from the City of Chula Vista Performing and Visual Arts Grant. We are honored to have been awarded funding for the CV Slam Fest project and are deeply grateful for the City’s investment in local arts and culture. We take that responsibility seriously and are excited to steward these funds in a way that serves the community with intention and integrity.

CV Slam Fest will bring poets from across the nation to compete for a $1,000 cash prize, while also centering local voices, youth poets, and the power of spoken word as an art form that belongs on big stages.

We are excited to welcome ELIGH of Living Legends as our special guest, and we will be partnering with Chula Vista schools throughout the day to spotlight youth poetry and emerging voices.

This is a one day event.
It is free to the public.
And it is just the beginning.

Applications to compete will be opening soon. More details coming shortly. Stay close, stay tuned, and thank you for believing in poetry the way we do.

We and have been EXTREMELY BLESSED throughout this year the way God has carried us through and brought the right people in and out of our lives, expanding and designing Poets Underground in ways we could have once never imagined.

We have had the privilege of being able to continue to serve our city of San Diego that we love and hold so dearly through our school partnerships, partnerships with mental health supportive services, jail, transition centers, our work with with our beloved African refugee students, our work with the San Diego International airport and being able to serve the title as the 2025 Spring Arts Residency was such a growth level up for us! THANK YOU to our Poet community THANK YOU to our friends that we are so lucky to work with! And thank you all for continuing this journey with us as we play and dream and challenge ourselves to create new and inventive ways to serve our city and beyond.

2026 is going to be breaking all the molds for us! We have such high goals and plans and are ready to get to work!

Truth is, you still have it pretty damn good man. Opening night for and Robbie killed it. We were so honored to have seen you perform and captivate an audience the way you do. From the acid vault to infinity, keep on keepin’ on. A very special night that we needed and we got more than what we hoped for. Long live poetry and community friend,
