Yesterday was a sad day, we lost Shawn Erler. He was a one of a kind guy, a great artist, with a great eye for tikis and the macabre. He was always down to be part of Art Around Adams, and so very generous with his time, always willing to come out and help promote it. Whether he was showcasing his work or performing as his alter ego, the San Diego Werewolf, he always brought a childlike energy, fun, and joy to what he was doing. He will be missed.

If you knew him, come out and celebrate him at an impromptu memorial during Bar Basic’s Artist Annex this Wednesday. One of his pieces will be displayed as part of the art show hosted by Thumbprint Gallery.

It’s with a heavy heart that we announce that this year’s Art Around Adams event that we had hoped would take place on Saturday, June 5th 2021 will not happen due to the ongoing global health crisis and restrictive social regulations created by the Covid-19 pandemic. We look forward to the future and hope to be able see you all in 2022. Until then please be safe out there and continue to support the local businesses, artists, and performers that make Art Around Adams so great anyway you can. Thank you for your support. "The brush is seldom considered as the vehicle for a dialogue, more commonly, it is utilized as a tool to create. It has the power to elicit emotions by its words, imagery and the manner in which it is manipulated. It exists as a means to an end, the transportation of an idea that manifests itself through this extension of the hand, providing literary or visual experiences for the intended audience.

A brush exists in the background, isolated to the physicality of the studio, unaware of its collaborative effort and impact on the larger stage and efforts it has contributed to. Brushes imply, whether subliminally or blatantly, a message in a specific medium.
