San Diego Lunar New Year Festival a beautiful celebration of community, culture, and belonging ❤️

To our volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes, our sponsors and partners who believed in this vision, our vendors and performers who brought the festival to life, and every family who came to celebrate with us — this festival was possible because of you.

From lanterns that disappeared within hours, to children decorating, families making bánh tét together, lion dances filling the park with energy, and thousands of smiles shared throughout the day — the joy and connection we witnessed will stay with us for a long time.

This festival is more than an event. It is a reminder that culture lives when we share it, and community grows when we build it together.

From all of us at Little Saigon San Diego — thank you for celebrating the Year of the Horse with us. We can’t wait to see you next year

Honoring Culture, Connection, and Prosperity in the Year of the Fire Horse
Little Saigon San Diego invites you to join the celebration at the 2026 San Diego Lunar New Year Festival, a three-day cultural event honoring the Year of the Fire Horse, taking place February 13–15, 2026, at Officer Jeremy Henwood Memorial Park (4455 Wightman Street, San Diego).
This free and open festival is designed for families, children, seniors, and visitors of all backgrounds. This year’s festival features a wide range of signature activities made possible through community partnerships and sponsorships:
• Lantern Decoration Activity, sponsored by San Diego Community Power, invites children and families to design their own lanterns while reflecting on light, hope, and the future they wish to illuminate together.
• Pick Your Luck from the Tree of Luck, sponsored by Sycuan Casino Resort, allows participants to select a red envelope containing a message of prosperity and good fortune for the new year, symbolizing shared blessings and community connection.
• Make Your Own Bánh Tét Station, sponsored by Viễn Đông Supermarket and World Food Supermarket, offers families a hands-on opportunity to learn about and prepare the traditional Vietnamese New Year rice cake that represents gratitude, ancestry, and togetherness.
• Tesla Cybertruck Test Drive Experience, provided by Tesla, gives visitors the opportunity to explore innovative technology while celebrating the forward-looking energy of the new year.
In addition to these interactive stations, the festival will feature back-to-back lion dance performances by four of San Diego’s leading lion dance teams on Friday, February 13, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, filling the park with powerful drumbeats, colorful costumes, and the traditional symbolism of good fortune and protection.
The festival will also host the 2nd Annual Lunar New Year Soccer Tournament, organized by Hung Vuong Sports Club, on Sunday, February 15, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, bringing together teams representing Asian communities, including Vietnam, Korea, China, and Laos, in a celebration of teamwork, wellness, and cultural pride.
Throughout the weekend, attendees can enjoy cultural performances, martial arts demonstrations, traditional ceremonies, food vendors, and community booths that reflect the diversity and spirit of San Diego’s Asian communities.
The 2026 San Diego Lunar New Year Festival is free and open to the public and welcomes people of all backgrounds to experience the richness of Asian culture and the spirit of renewal that marks the beginning of a new year.

Hello friend and family,

It recently came to our attention that someone is impersonating Little Saigon San Diego and reaching out to vendors regarding the 2026 San Diego Lunar New Year Festival. A vendor forwarded a suspicious email to us. While this instance appears to target vendors, it could also involve outreach related to sponsorships or donations

With the festival only 27 days away, we are moving forward together as planned. We want to be clear that our official contact information is:
Email: [email protected]
Phone/Text: 619-362-6066

At the same time, we all know the world is changing quickly. With the acceleration of technology—and now AI—emails and phone numbers can be copied, cloned, or made to look real.

Because of that, let's agree on a secret just between us.

This year, one of our festival activities is called “Mang Phúc Về Nhà – 把福氣帶回家 – Bring Prosperity Home.”

So let’s agree that our word for 2026 is Phúc (福 / Fu).

If at any point a message or conversation doesn’t feel quite right, you can always ask a simple question:
“What are we bringing home this year?”

There are many good answers— a dog, groceries, love, happiness, health, luck, abundance. We are not just ordinary people; we are bringing phúc / Fu home.

While this situation is unfortunate, it is not a reflection of weakness. It is a reminder of the times we live in—and that even as technology grows more powerful, it remains artificial. What’s real is us: our relationships, our care for one another, and the trust we’ve built over the years.

Thank you for being part of this community, and for continuing to look out for one another.

With appreciation and care,
Little Saigon San Diego

Thank you, Little Saigon family!

Our Mid-Autumn Moon Festival yesterday was pure joy. It was wonderful seeing everyone having a blast—laughing, crafting, sharing food, and lighting up the night together.

Highlights we loved:
• Community Trash Pick-Up Challenge: In just 30 minutes, we collected 68.9 lbs. of trash—teamwork in action!
• Lion Dances: All 3 lion dance teams were amazing—thank you for the energy and tradition you brought to the park.
• Mooncakes: We made mooncakes down to the very last ball of dough! A few folks didn’t get a turn because we ran out—so sorry! We’ll be back next year with even more.
• Lantern Fun: Lantern decorating was a hit, and this year’s lantern distribution was bigger than last year so everyone could take one home.
• Most of all, Lantern Parade: More than 100 people followed the lions around the park with glowing lanterns in hand—a truly heartwarming moment. It brought back so many memories of Trung Thu from childhood, following the lion dance through the neighborhood and stopping at open doors for a festive dance.

To our volunteers: you were incredible. We absolutely couldn’t have done it without you.
To our performers and partners: you made the evening unforgettable.
To our community: thank you for showing up with smiles, spirit, and love.

See you again next year—brighter than ever.

The Moon Festival—also known as the Mid-Autumn Festival—is a cherished tradition in many East and Southeast Asian cultures, including China, Vietnam, and Korea. Celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month, when the moon shines at its fullest and brightest, it has long been a symbol of reunion, gratitude, and abundance. Rooted in ancient harvest customs, the festival is a time to gather with loved ones and to give thanks for the blessings of nature.

With gratitude, we give thanks…
• To the Moon, for blessing us with the harvest, guiding the seasons, and reminding us of the harmony between heaven and earth.
• To our parents, grandparents, and elders, whose love, wisdom, and sacrifices continue to light our way.
• To our ancestors, whose strength and journeys made our present possible.
• To our neighbors, friends, and community, for standing together and uplifting one another.
• To the farmers and workers, whose labor brings the harvest from the fields to our tables.
• To the truck drivers, grocery market staff, cooks, vendors, caregivers, and everone in between, who ensure nourishment and care reach each of us.
• and to you—for simply being you.

One of the most cherished traditions of the Moon Festival is the making and sharing of mooncakes—a sweet symbol of reunion and good fortune. This October 4th, parents and children can come together to craft these treats, then share them with loved ones as a joyful way to celebrate the festival.

We warmly invite you and your family to help make 2,000 mooncakes! 🌕🥮
We’ll be preparing snow skin mooncakes with mixed fillings made from ten special ingredients. These mooncakes will be gifted to temples and churches to share with children during the Mid-Autumn Festival.

🍂 The best part is that no baking or cooking is required, so everyone can join in and lend a hand.

Let’s come together to bring joy and the taste of tradition to the children this festive season!
