We offer private and group classes in music + art and run a songwriting and recording label for kids + teens! Yippee!

We called our school Kalabash after the calabash which has been used to make musical instruments in many cultures around the world for thousands of years. We think it serves as a good reminder that music and art can be made with anything, anywhere, anytime. From the first cave paintings to today’s pop music, the arts play an important part in our understanding of ourselves and our environment. It

connects us to each other and the world around us. We offer private and group classes in instrumental music, singing, art and more! Fostering an accepting and nurturing environment between teachers, students and the community at large is what we’re all about. Everyone is welcome to discover and create with us. In the wise words of Albert Einstein, “imagination will take you everywhere”

We’re half way through our handmade summer camp season and we are overflowing with memories, big beautiful feelings, pride, golden lanterns, bird wings and lion roars, hatching eggs and wild geese. So grateful for the amazing team and the incredible kids who bring us so much joy!

“TIME IS A GIFT” 🕰️The Phantom Tollbooth was a delightful journey through the city of words and the land of numbers. We got to watch Chroma conduct the sunset and experience the Awful Discord and the dancing rainbow and rescue Rhyme and Reason to the Land of Wisdom. Whohooo! These memories will last forever.

The first week of our Handmade Theatre Summer Camps is now complete! The Circle of Life continues and the true King has taken back his throne and everyone is singing Hakuna Matata. Thank you to all kids who are now forever part of the Kalabash Lion King Club! And to our awesome crew of teachers and teen helpers for making this African Savanah come to life!

This Winter we are going back to the classics and the snowy woods to tell two tales of epic adventure on our handmade theatre stage! The Snow Queen (or Frozen) by Hans Christian Anderson and Homer’s Odyssey! These productions are not to be missed! Sign ups open next Friday Nov 3rd at 10am.

curdling take of Frankenstein. And of course a big thank you to our director Erin Peterson for guiding this ship of young actors through the ice!

It’s Mary Shelley’s birthday today, the author of Frankenstein (or the Modern Prometheus) It’s truly the perfect short novel to read as we enter the spooky season of autumn. We can’t wait to start rehearsals for our handmade production of this gothic masterpiece, not only do we intend on bringing this story back to its original roots, (bo Boris Karloff here) but we can’t wait to illuminate the fascinating life of Mary Shelley for all our actors and discuss who the real monster is in the story! This production will be for ages 10+ and there are still a few spots left! Enrollment closes next Monday, so don’t delay!
