💛 Reflecting on SDSRU 2026 - A quick check-in 💛 (3 ways to share) 💛

Hi everyone!

Now that we’ve had a few weeks to take in the completion of the 2026 San Diego Spring Round Up, catch our breath, and settle back into the rhythm of everyday life… we wanted to take a moment to reconnect.

What we created together this past year — and especially over that weekend — was something truly meaningful. We’ve heard from so many of you who felt connection, warmth, and a sense of belonging… and that only happens because of the people who show up and bring it to life.

As we begin to take stock of this year and look ahead, we’d love to hear from you.

Your input helps us understand what worked, what we can improve, and how we can continue to grow — especially as we turn the reins over to our 2027 Chairperson, Deborah E., and begin preparing for a very special milestone… the 50th Anniversary of the San Diego Spring Round Up! ✨

We’ve created a few simple options so you can share in whatever way feels right for you:

🚪 Door #1:
“I’ve got thoughts, reflections, and ideas — let’s go.”
(A more in-depth survey for those who want to share detailed feedback)

🚪 Door #2:
“Quick and honest — the 2-minute version.”
(Just a few key questions to give us the highlights)

🚪 Door #3:
“I didn’t attend this year, but I’m willing to share why.”
(Helps us better understand how to reach and serve our broader community)

Whether you share a little or a lot, it truly makes a difference.

While we may not be able to implement every suggestion, your feedback helps guide our planning and priorities for the future.

Thank you again for being part of the 2026 San Diego Spring Round Up - in whatever way you participated. What we shared together matters more than we can fully measure.

With gratitude and love,
Heather S.
2026 Chair, San Diego Spring Round Up 💛

P.S. Speaker recordings from this year's event are available on our website if you’d like to revisit or share them!

Thank you so much for being part of the 2026 San Diego Spring Round Up. Your feedback helps us understand what worked well, what we can improve, and how we can continue carrying the message of hope and recovery in the best way possible. Please choose the survey path that works best for you — wheth...

🪩✨ Saturday Night = GLOW SOBER Dance ✨🪩

And then… we lit up the night!

Blacklights. Bright colors. Big music.
A dance floor full of laughter, connection, and pure joy.

From Twister and Mario Kart to the photo booth and face painting — there was something for everyone, and the energy in the room was something special.

This is what sober fun looks like. 💛

Thank you to Samantha & Kristy and all of the YAH volunteers and everyone who came out, showed up, and made it a night to remember.

Please feel free to share your Photo Booth pics or any other GLOW SOBER pics in the comments here! 🪩

🏍 Saturday = Poker Run Adventure 🃏

Engines revved, kickstands up, and off they went…

Our Poker Run crew hit the road for a scenic ride across the county, stopping along the way to collect cards and build their hands.

Part ride, part game, all fellowship.

Sunshine, open roads, and great company — it doesn’t get much better than that.

Huge thanks to Chris & Candi and all of their volunteers and everyone who participated and made this such a fun and memorable part of the weekend!

And in case you were wondering, Ken had the high hand and Bob had the low!

🌅 Saturday Morning = 5K Walk/Run/Roll 🏃‍♀️♿️

Bright and early (like… really early 😅), our community showed up to kick off Saturday with movement, fresh air, music and fellowship.

Whether you walked, ran, rolled, or just cheered others on, it was a beautiful way to start the day — together.

This year, we were also excited to introduce a non-binary category, continuing our effort to helping ensure that everyone has a place to participate and be recognized. 💛

There’s something special about seeing people come out at the crack of dawn, choosing connection, wellness, and willingness before the rest of the day even begins. 🔑

Huge thank you to Nolan, Neely and the rest of the volunteers and everyone who participated and helped make it happen!

Race Results:

Nonbinary
1st Place - Reece
2nd Place - Nolan

Women
1st Place - Caitrin
2nd Place - Sarah P
3rd Place - Gracie

Male
1st place - Eric O
2nd Place - Frank T
3rd place - Rowan

🎤✨ Friday Night = Game Show! ✨🎤

We tried something brand new this year… the SDSRU Friday Night Game Show — and let’s just say… it had character. 😄

Was it a little chaotic?
Yes.
Did we start a bit later than planned?
Also yes.
Did we learn a few things for next year?
Definitely. 😉

But… it was also fun, creative, and full of laughter — and we LOVE that we’re willing to try new things and keep evolving.

We had four unforgettable teams take the stage:

⚡ Bill W’s White Lightning Experience
🐎 The Four Horsemen
🐔 The Bokkers (yes… dressed like chickens 😂)
❓ …and one more team (shoutout to our Deaf/ASL community!)

👉 Who remembers the name of the 4th team??

We’ll give a FREE registration to SDSRU 2027 to the first person who gets it right! 🔑🔥

Huge thank you to everyone who signed up to play, participated, stuck it out with us, and brought the energy — and to Tanya and the team who helped bring this new idea to life!

We’ll tighten it up next year… and who knows, you might just see it again. 😎

👉 Reach out if you want to join the team for next year!

✨ Workshops — Reimagined ✨

One of the things we were really excited about this year was bringing some fresh energy and new ideas to our workshop lineup… and WOW did the Workshop Committee deliver. 💛

This year’s Round Up featured some incredible new concepts:

🎤 The Recovery Games — a fun twist on The Hunger Games, with Big Book trivia as the competition (may the odds be ever in your favor 😉)
💬 Sober & Single — set up like speed dating, but focused on meaningful conversations and connection
❤️ Couples in Recovery Workshop — led by one of our amazing speaker couples from Florida
📘 Grapevine Workshop — led by Sam from Palm Springs, co-host of the Grapevine Podcast, sharing everything from resources to writing tips (and how to get published!)

These workshops were engaging, interactive, and full of connection — exactly what we hoped for.

Huge thank you to Trey, Stephanie, Janine, Lisa, Vickie, Shane, and all of the incredible volunteers who brought these ideas to life and created such a meaningful experience for everyone who participated.

This is what willingness in action looks like… and also how we keep growing, evolving, and making space for everyone. 🔑❤️🙏

Friday, April 3rd = Fishing Trip! 🎣😎

While the golfers were out on the greens, our fishing crew was out on the water — rods in hand and smiles all around!

Sunshine, salt air, and a whole lot of fellowship made for an unforgettable start to the weekend.

Over 150 fish were caught and 75 more were released after everyone caught their limits! 🎣🐟🐠🐠🐟🐟🐠

Huge thanks to Fred & the crew of the Daily Double and Tyler & Nathan & the Fishing Committee and everyone who came out to cast a line with us!

1st Place - Tom S. (2 lbs 11 oz)
2nd Place - Brian B. (2 lbs)
3rd Place - Ricky M. (1-1/2 lbs)

Friday, April 3rd = Golf Day ⛳️😎

Sun was shining, clubs were swinging, and the weekend was officially underway at Riverwalk Golf Club!

Whether you were hitting birdies or just enjoying the ride, it was a great day on the course with even better company.

Shoutout to Robbie R. and the Golf Committee for putting together such a fantastic event — and to everyone who came out to play!

Now THAT’s how you start a Round Up. 💛

Thursday, April 2nd
Day One of the 2026 San Diego Spring Round Up kicked off with registration and tickets opening, merchandise pickups and sales, opportunity drawing ticket sales, a couple of breathwork sessions, and three early bird meetings, including a main speaker meeting featuring our 2022 past chair, Marie B.
We also introduced the new Fellowship Lounge, which was a really great space for people to spend time in together between meetings and other activities (and even featured an acoustic Fellowship Jam & Sing Along on Friday & Saturday!). To cap off the evening, we were treated to a really great Comedy Show featuring Patrick DeGuire, Kyle Drake, Charles Sanchez and Franky Gonzalez, who all really brought the laughs! A big thank you to everyone that came out to join us for the comedy show and ice cream social! 🎤🤣🍧
