Luminaria is deeply honored to have our autographed H. Jimenez bajo sexto on display at the new Institute of Texan Cultures exhibition “Puro Conjunto”.

The bajo was originally donated to Luminaria’s Yadhira Lozano at Gruene Hall during a March 2023 concert featuring Los Texmaniacs and our dear friend Flaco Jimenez. The bajo is autographed by the last of the Texas Tornadoes: Flaco, Augie Meyers, Max Baca and members of Los Texmaniacs.

The exhibition is up through next May. Thank you to Bianca Alvarez, Head Curator and ITC staff for this beautiful display of our home grown music. UTSA Institute of Texan Cultures Flaco Jimenez Los Texmaniacs Hohner Music

We would like to thank the National Endowment for the Arts and the Mid-America Arts Alliance for inviting us to Washington DC to meet fellow recipients of the Creative Forces Grant from across the country. Learning from each other, tackling the challenges we face, and coming home with new bright ideas is especially empowering. We were also inspired by all of the art and history of the various museums and monuments. It is truly special to see our San Antonio and South Texas culture on full display with objects from Flaco Jimenez, Selena, and KCOR radio, alongside Picasso, the Red Ruby Slippers, Siqueiros, and more.
