• Quirky Parade

The day starts with the best little parade in Texas! A mile and a half meander

through the neighborhood, which will include political parodies, parading pooches, marching bands, and belly dancing. About 200 Art & Craft vendors sell original hand crafted items, which include stained glass, wind chimes, paintings, photography, ceramics, apparel, home-made foods, home accessories, and more! The streets will be filled with the aroma of sizzling fajitas, as families amble the streets enjoying funnel cakes, sausage on a stick, snow cones, kettle corn and more! Food and Beverage booths will be conveniently located throughout the entire neighborhood. Spend the afternoon enjoying soulful sounds and happy harmonies while listening to lyrical melodies of local and imported bands at five distinct venues. Kids can play at Kid's Kingdom, which offers a mix of children’s activities from crafts to basketball games and rides; as well as a rock-wall climbing in a tree-shaded park setting. The mission of the King William Fair is to support the arts, education, and community improvements with family fun in Texas' first residential historic neighborhood.

Happy Flashback Friday, y'all! Today, we're highlighting all the colors from this year's King William Fair.

The Fair is hands-down one of our absolute favorite traditions because it brings the best parts of our downtown community together. Beyond the parade floats, the great food, and the local art vendors, it's also a huge win for our neighborhood!

Every ticket and medal sold helps us fund our free concerts in the park, keep up with local sidewalk repairs, and back amazing grants for local nonprofits right here in the district.

It's Flashback Friday!

Can you believe the King William Fair was just four weeks ago?

Our beloved fair transforms Texas' first residential historic neighborhood into a colorful, lively celebration of arts, music, and community.

Why We Love It:

The Atmosphere: Wandering past stately, beautifully restored Victorian homes while enjoying a uniquely festive vibe.

The Entertainment: Five stages of live music—ranging from jazz at King William Park to live rock 'n' roll at Pat's Pub—plus an array of talented roving street performers.

The Original Art: Browsing and shopping handcrafted items from over 200 incredibly talented original Art & Craft vendors.

The Family Fun: Creating lasting memories at Kid's Kingdom with interactive rides, games, and creative experiences for children.

The Purpose: Knowing that every ticket helps the King William Association fund fine arts programs, local college scholarships, and neighborhood preservation efforts.

Whether you came out for the delicious food, the unique shopping, or simply to soak in the funky, family-friendly culture, you helped make it one of our favorite markets of the entire year. Thank you to the hundreds of volunteers and thousands of fairgoers who bring this event to life year after year!

Celebrate Preservation Month with us and National Trust for Historic Preservation this May!

As the United States marks the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, we’re looking to the places that bring its most powerful promise to life, that “all people are created equal,” and to the people making sure those places endure. We want to hear about historic sites that tell Americans who we are, places that continue to shape our 250-year journey to becoming a more perfect union.

Preservation Month is your moment. Share how the historic places you love spark joy, inspire wonder, and connect members of your community to our shared history.

The places that make us who we are deserve to be celebrated — and protected!

Happy Preservation Month! Savingplaces.org/preservation-month
