For generations, the hum of a sewing machine has been part of Fair tradition. Grandparents teaching grandchildren. Parents passing down patterns. Young makers learning their very first stitches.

Every year, talented sewers bring their creations to the Fair—from quilts and clothing to embroidery and heirloom pieces—continuing a tradition that has been stitched into the Fair for generations.

This National Sewing Day, we celebrate the artists, the makers, and the families who have kept this craft alive… one stitch at a time.

We are officially 100 days out from opening day of the 2026 Utah State Fair! 🎡

So naturally, we made a list of 100 reasons to visit the Fair. Because apparently “funnel cake” wasn’t enough.

Over the next 100 days, we’ll be counting down the animals, concerts, rides, food, traditions, exhibits, arena events, questionable snack decisions, and beautiful chaos that make the Utah State Fair one of the best times of the year.

Reason #100: Because for 11 days, the Utah State Fair turns food, music, animals, rides, creativity, agriculture, nostalgia, and nonsense into one big celebration.

Before Murphy Door became a nationally recognized Utah company, founder Jeremy Barker tested one of his early ideas at the Utah State Fair. At 19 years old, he brought his Frontier Sheds booth to the Fair and walked away with $60,000 in sales, a big lesson in entrepreneurship, and the beginning of a story that would eventually lead to Murphy Door’s incredible growth.

That is one of the things we love most about the Fair. For generations, it has been more than food, rides, animals, and entertainment. It has also been a place where Utah makers, inventors, small businesses, farmers, food creators, and dreamers can put their ideas in front of real people.
