Boing! Anarchist Collective

Boing! Anarchist Collective (A) (E) (V) Boing! Anarchist Collective serves as a space for radical dialog, performances, reading and other such activities.

has been a steady center for anarchist activity for nine years and counting. Although not currently an activist space in all realms, it is always working at improving the community in at least one area of need. If you are disenchanted with our synthesized world wrought with hopeless abandon, if you are bored of standardized living, if you are tired of being around people who don't understand how y

ou feel about a dying world. If you are queer or if you identify as anything outside of the binary system or support people who do, if you feel frustration with the heteronormative assimilation that is constantly placed upon us, if you are a female bodied person who is tired of being objectified by a sex crazed culture or perceived as being weak or unlearned, if you are a male bodied person who is interested in deconstructing the privilege we obtained at birth through a male dominant world. If you are inspired by people who have acted outside of the legal system to achieve liberation, if you are hesitant to resign yourself to a pacified and glorified form of dissidence. If you are questioning your known faith in spiritual personages, if you'd like to augment or learn more about your spirituality, if you've already confronted your faith with opposition or unsureness. If your idea of a good time doesn't solely include being intoxicated, if you feel distrusting and insecure about being around people who are drunk, if you want to be around people who are interested in engaging in creative and fun activities that aren't centered around alcohol. If you are interested in learning how to break the chain of dependence imposed upon us in regards to the monetary system, if you want to maintain possession of life's essentials (e.g. food and housing) by dissimilar means. If animals are more than a consumer product to you, if you value life regardless of species, if you want to know more about how to live and be healthy without food including animal products. If life is worth living with fervent passion, if you want to build something beautiful or fight for beauty that has since been destroyed or is being destroyed. If any of you are curious or interested at all about any of this, anyone at this collective is interested in talking to you about it or anything we missed. We try to understand alienation, and we understand feeling self-conscious in a new environment. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, politics, diet, musical preference, substance use, religious belief, age, style, criminal record, sub-culture, ability, or citizenship. And for those of you rolling your eyes at these ideas presented here, you have a lot of people to do it with. Please keep it between yourselves.

📞⚡️ Salt Lake DA Sim Gill must release all people incarcerated pre-trial now! We called him last week, but it doesn’t look like he heard us. There are hundreds of people being held pre-trial in the Salt Lake County Jail TODAY who are at grave risk for covid-19. We can save lives if we keep the pressure on.

Call 385-468-7600, then select 2 for the directory and say “Sim Gill.”

Because the city thought it was a great idea to shut down the Road Home just before the winter, and then continue harassing and punishing people for sleeping. We should be working to improve conditions for unsheltered people, not further oppress them every day! Please stand with these community members who are fighting for a just world, in Salt Lake City and everywhere.

Happening Now: Camping Occupation of SLC's Washington Square!

In solidarity with our unsheltered neighbors, the Take Shelter Coalition has set up a camp in front of the City and County building, in Washington Square Park.

We are a coalition of community leaders and organizers from a wide range of struggles united with our unsheltered neighbors to demand shelter and dignity for every person forced to live on the streets.

We are doing this occupation because the shelters are full. Every day there are more people than the shelters have beds to accomodate. With no where else to go, they are forced to sleep outside, and yet the cops treat camping outdoors as a criminal act. The police steal people's survival belongings. Blankets, sleeping bags, tents, and bikes are all rounded up and placed in trucks headed to the dump. This makes the already difficult task of making it through the winter nearly impossible. These camp "clean ups" are unconstitutional and violate the police department and health department's own policies. All this while the state of Utah continues to give money to real estate developers, not for community good. So we, the Take Shelter Coalition, are forced to take up the work of keeping people warm this winter. Work that should be done with our tax dollars. We are staging this occupation to demand action from the city. We demand a new shelter open downtown, that an equivalent number of beds be made readily available and accessible, no arrests, tickets or harassment for campers, change legislation for new centers to have more beds, and free public transit fare for all who stay in shelters.

We call on you to stand with us! Join us in Washington Square Park. In the face of oppression we will sing and dance, we will cook and eat together, we will hold power accountable, we will stand up, and we will fight back. There is safety in community, so if you are able to join us at camp for any amount of time, we will love to see you there. We are also in need of community support for donations of: coats, sleeping bags, blankets, tents, boots, hand warmers, and propane. You can also donate cash to the fund at paypal.me/MOliveros

No beds, no peace!

Call Sim Gill to demand he drop the ridiculous charges against protestors standing against the inland port!

Our community opposes the port--enough of this persecution of peaceful, nonviolent protesters! Please speak up and stand with these members of our community, who are role models, not criminals.

On November 26, people arrested in July in a nonviolent direct action against Utah's proposed inland port faced their first court appearance. Many of them have…

Hello! We've been getting a bunch of messages asking if we are still looking for roommates, and we are NOT. Also just a friendly reminder that we are no longer a music venue, and are limiting our capacity to different community events (mostly workshops and meetings).

We have also gotten messages about "getting involved with Boing", well Boing isn't a group, it's just a space! Most folks who are "involved with Boing" are actually neighbors, friends, vegans and vegetarians, people who bicycle past the house, land defenders, fellow q***rs and punks.

As a house of people of many different identities and backgrounds and experiences with marginalization, we believe anarchy is spread through action and in community, rather than with a singular "group" or ideology. So, don't try to "join" us, instead form your own group of folks :D
