Happy Roots is quickly back to work in school and community gardens! Thank you all for supporting this work, especially to Trinity Oaks - A Senior Living Community for keeping Happy Roots going and growing all these years and for their sponsorship of Earth Day Jam! One way you can make is by buying and eating local. 🌱🌎

Supporting local farmers and growers keeps land in agriculture, and protects it from being sold off, developed, or turned into something that further disconnects us from our food and our roots. It also cuts down on food miles.

This year at Earth Day Jam, and at every Happy Roots event, we choose local. We’re proud to put our money where our mission is… by once again sourcing as much as possible locally… and dedicating our event budget right back to our community.

Parents and music educators are raising serious concerns about Regina Public’s proposed changes to the elementary band program and the creation of a centralized music education centre.

The plan could mean reduced instructional time, increased travel for students, and a watered-down band experience with Grade 6 students losing band altogether.

Add your voice and help ensure students continue to have access to high-quality music education by emailing the trustees today.

Somebody’s looking for this!

I promised a parent that I would post this photo up. I'm unsure if they followed me here or not, but I wanted to follow through. It was cool at the Earth Day Jam Saturday and as Red Panda was about to play a kid asked if I would take a photo of him hitting a ball with a glow in the dark bat of some kind so I said sure. Here is that photo.

We want to give a huge shoutout to Daisy Wicker for stepping up big time this year as Co-Event Coordinator and Volunteer Coordinator! 🌱✨ Can’t tell you how many volunteer hours she’s dedicated to this event over the past months.

brought incredible organization, attention to detail, and a creative eye for design through her work with 🌼
She also holds it down as a manager at our local sponsor , where her and Mollie helped print most of our merch at their shop. 👕

And as if that wasn’t enough… Daisy was still able to sing for us and hit the ROOTS stage with her band 🎶 (Check them out this Saturday for the AnniBEERsary!)

We also have to give a HUGE shoutout to her dad, Brian Lisk, an absolute MVP, who donated all the concrete through his biz NJ’s Concrete that we used for all our tent weights…➡️ 40 lbs per leg per Fire Marshal… and yes, Fire Marshal approved 💪🔥 (Consider renting these out for your events!)

Sincere THANK YOU, Daisy, for all your help and coordination! You brought structure to a lot of moving parts, even when the day threw curveballs at us. You’re amazing! Couldn’t have done it without you. 🙏🏽
