Going Up?? ⬆️
Sculpture by artist Bob Peck

We’re excited to unveil our newest sculpture, now on display in the Temple’s first-floor lobby!

Join us during First Friday (May 1, 5–8 PM) and again on Saturday (May 2, 11 AM–1 PM) during the Sculpture Tour Unwrap Party to experience it in person.

The story:
As part of the Temple Big Lift capital campaign, we’re working to make this historic space more accessible. Our antique elevators are being upgraded with modern electronics—while preserving their historic character.

While the original 1927 freight car couldn’t be reused due to compliance requirements, we saw an opportunity: what if it could be reimagined?

Thanks to funding from the Horizons Grant Program, along with matching support from the William and Ada Mae Harbin family, we commissioned artist Bob Peck to create an interactive sculpture using parts from the original elevator. Each side invites you to touch, move, and engage with authentic pieces—bringing the experience of a 1920s elevator back to life.

Special thanks to Steve Renich for his vision and passion, and to everyone who helped make this project possible.

We’re proud to see this piece of history live on—reimagined. A perfect metaphor for our mission: honoring the past while building a vibrant future for the Temple.

The Temple was filled with love and celebration as we hosted this beautiful quinceañera on the first floor! ✨

The day began with a special blessing, followed by an evening full of joy, family, and unforgettable moments. We’re so honored to be part of such meaningful milestones and traditions.

Congratulations to the birthday girl and her family, thank you for letting us be a part of your special day!💚

We were honored to host the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center team from Wichita for a Veterans Benefit Town Hall at The Temple.

They brought dedicated case workers on-site to assist veterans with claims, answer questions, and connect them with important services and resources. It was a meaningful opportunity to provide direct support to those who have served our country.

Thank you to the VA team for making the trip and to all the veterans who joined us—we’re proud to be a place where our community can come together and access the help they deserve. 🇺🇸

Happy Earth Day from all of us at The Temple! 🌎🌿

Today is a reminder that even small actions can make a big impact. From reusing materials and reducing waste to caring for the spaces we share, every effort helps keep our community, and our planet, beautiful.

We’re proud to do our part right here in Salina by finding ways to give materials a second life and keep The Temple thriving for generations to come.

How are you celebrating Earth Day today? 💚

Our Spring Spruce Up at The Temple was such a success, and we’re feeling incredibly grateful! 🌸

A huge thank you to the amazing volunteers from the Kansas Wesleyan University Coyote Dance Team, Bank of Tescott, and the many community members who showed up simply to lend a hand. Your time and energy made a real difference.

Together, we were able to donate used plumbing and building materials to the Reuseit Salina , with volunteers jumping in to help carry and load everything up. On top of that, the theatre got a much-needed deep clean and is looking better than ever!

It’s moments like these that remind us how special this community truly is. Thank you for helping us care for The Temple! 💛
