Here's a link to a documentary on President Gerald Ford's visit to Salem Depot on September 11, 1975. It would be the first time a POTUS would visit Salem. It would also be the first ever live television remote by Salem School District Television.
Arthur Berlin, Director of Media Services, would make arrangements with Continental Cablevision, to connect the stations modulator so that the president's visit could be cablecast live to the community.

We are very excited to digitize approximately 150 of our oldest video tape recordings. It took a number of years to find the machine that could play them back and we estimate that there are only three in the entire country . We recently found a technician in Arizona that had the expertise to restore it and will begin to digitize the tapes this fall. What does it take to get these 50 plus year old tapes to play? Well, that’s a whole story in itself . Stay tuned for some sneak peeks this fall!
