For St. Pete, Ajeva is that band.

They have the sound, the energy, the creativity, and the unmistakable personality that make you proud to say, “They’re from here.” If you’ve seen them live, you already know. If you haven’t, you need to.

We’re excited to announce that the St. Pete CommUNITY Festival has advanced as a finalist for Creative Loafing Tampa Bay’s Best of the Bay — Best Music Festival!

What started as a free community celebration has grown into something truly special, bringing thousands of people together through live music, art, local organizations, family activities, and the spirit of our city.

Today we recognize Juneteenth, a day that commemorates June 19, 1865, when Union General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced that enslaved people were free—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued.

Juneteenth marks the effective end of slavery for many African Americans and serves as both a celebration of freedom, resilience, culture, and achievement, and a time to reflect on our nation’s history and the ongoing pursuit of equality and justice.
