Paining tip. How to clean and protect your brushes. Should dip your brushes too deep into paint you can end up with build-up around the ferrule. (The metal ring that secures the bristles too the handle). I remove any chance of this occurring by place a cut-out piece of sponge into the bottom of my rinse jar. This allows me to rub the brush in the water to remove any residue. I use Pink Soap to remove any remaining paint and let dry on the brush to shape the bristles. Rinse the brush before using.

If you are using your gouge by holding the carving piece in your hand - your are doing it wrong. 3 pieces of scrap wood make a "bench hook" will save you from those nasty cuts.

Falling temperatures are a reminder that the St. Paul European Christmas Market is coming in a little over 60 days. Cardinals are especially popular. A few large ornaments here are ready for their eyes and feathers to be added over the red wood dye I use for their bodies.
