There are very few people who can say they have served their community for more than 35 years.
Whether it is championing a youth soccer program, volunteering to serve meals to St. Joseph seniors, serving on the library board or serving on cemetery boards, Tami Fruhling-Voges has always wanted to help her community.
When she was asked to run for village trustee 35 years ago she gave a hesitant yes.
But over her time as trustee she helped steer the village’s finances and worked as an ambassador for the village on a state and local level.
When she became mayor her priority was to still help St. Joseph. Her accomplishments include a much needed sewer facility expansion and upgrade, storm water improvements, additional parking in downtown, cleaning up derelict properties and establishing our very first TIF district. She also started the Halloween Parade, the annual summer fest, Christmas in St. Joseph event and routinely crowned our little prince and princess.
Because of this, and so much more, Tami Fruhling-Voges is our 2025 Citizen of the year.
