Yay! A Facebook group for the Edmund Fitzgerald Memorial Swim has been launched!

All interested swimmers are invited to join, along with anyone who supports our mission to complete the Edmund Fitzgerald's tragic journey in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of her sinking in 2025.

Greetings Finheads!

I am happy to share with you today’s press release announcing a historic one-time event for which I am recruiting up to 68 swimmers.

Imagine participating in a 411-mile relay swim from Lake Superior to Detroit, completing the Edmund Fitzgerald’s tragic journey in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of her sinking. This will happen in 2025 and will be the subject of a documentary film.

While the sheer distance of the event may sound intimidating, when you click on the “How Relay Works” tab on the website, you will see that it is very doable for most levels of swimmers.

REGISTRATION will open on Monday, June 10th at 9:00 a.m. EDT.

There are 17 stages to this swim and much to think about, so I wanted to give you a week to think it over. The website link below should tell you all you need to know, but please do not hesitate to contact me with questions at [email protected].

As you may surmise, this is not an inexpensive event to produce, especially when you consider each foursome will have their own dedicated support boat and crew for each of the 17 relay stages (averaging more than 20 miles per stage). So, it will not be the most inexpensive entry fee you've ever paid, and it will also be a fundraiser (although with a lower fundraising minimum than we had for the Mighty Mac Swim).

I will guarantee you though, … you will never do another event like this one! It will truly be something special to be a part of this for so many reasons! Check out the links below and you will see why.

Greetings Finheads!

This is to give you a heads up that I will be announcing a once-in-a-lifetime public participation swim event with a press release on MONDAY, JUNE 3RD. I am looking to recruit 68 swimmers for this historic one-time event that will be the subject of a film project!

Registration will be a week later, on MONDAY, JUNE 10TH.

I am looking forward to telling you all about it!

If you come aboard, I will be part of your support team ... with my fin up!

2024 WILL BRING OPPORTUNITY FOR 68 SWIMMERS TO SIGN UP FOR HISTORIC EVENT!!!

Happy New Year, Finheads!

Coming out of the gate in 2024, I wanted to put a truly unique opportunity on your radar screen. Soon I will be announcing and opening registration for a once-in-a-lifetime event that will occur in 2025. Up to 68 swimmers will have an opportunity to make history and play a role in a proposed documentary film for all of posterity! Some will swim where no one has ever swum before and likely will never swim again.

This event has been green-lighted, but I do not yet have the green light to announce it. STAY TUNED!

On a personal note, working on organizing a mega-event that is delivered in 2025, allows me to train as necessary in 2024 to finish what I started last summer. That of course, is swimming across Lake Michigan self-sufficiently (alone with supplies in tow) 82.5 miles from Milwaukee to Grand Haven!

Today (and hopefully every day) we are grateful to our Veterans. This is obviously for their sacrifice and service in keeping us free, but there is more. We are also grateful for the example they set for our future generations in "defending our constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic." More than ever, we need to heed their example and carry on their legacy and that of our forefathers.
