Desert Hills Bands The Official page for the Desert Hills High School Thunder Bands! The Thunder Bands are under the direction of Mr. Michael Pollard.

The program consists of an auditioned Wind Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble, along with a Concert Band, Percussion Ensemble, and Marching/Pep Band.

Mystery Inktober. I got sidetracked while on my trip. I started out alright on day 15 and 16. Day 17 was a rough piece to get done with a busy day of exploration. All I managed was to get a sketch in, but no inking. And days 18, and 19 just flew by with being in the moment in Nashville. It felt good to put this aside and just enjoy time with my friends. Day 20 was our travel day and I couldn’t stay awake on the plane!! Day 21 I was home, but trying to catch up with kids, work and so much laundry!!! And I was exhausted!

Day 22… finally had some energy and time to get one done. Instead of going back and trying to catch up- I’m going to do each days as it comes and catch up slowly as I can!

That’s life!! I don’t want to give up! Just going to move ahead.

Congratulations to Desert Hills own musician, Will Bangerter who performed in the Utah Jazz Honor Band at Utah Tech University on September 27, 2025.
Musicians must audition to be in the band and only a select few are chosen to perform. It is an intense weekend of learning 6 songs over the course of 8 hours of practicing together. They pulled it off beautifully in a performance on Saturday afternoon. What an accomplishment to be proud of!

Come one, come all!! It’s time for a percussion and Jazz jam. You won’t be disappointed in hearing students from 6-12th grade play percussion pieces they’ve been learning all year! It will be quite the entertainment and the last concert of the year for them. Don’t miss it!

Jazz performance will be held after the percussion concert. This is 8th- 12th grade Jazz performers. We’ve got some incredible talent you won’t want to miss!

The concert is free to all. Doors open 15 minutes before performances! Held at DHHS. Bring the whole family!!!
