Pop Culture Playground brings comic artists each day to Ancient City Con!
SUNDAY Sept 27th Pop Culture Playground welcomes:
Roland Mann
Roland Mann is a writer, editor, and professor. As writer, he is best known for his work on Cat & Mouse, a comic which ran for nearly two years, garnered critical acclaim, was optioned by Hollywood, and led Roland to other work. Some of his other work includes Trumps, Switchblade, Beah, Silverline Team-Up, Miss Fury, Planet of the Apes, Battletech, Lita Ford, and Rocket Ranger. As editor, Roland is best known for his work as a Malibu/Marvel Comics editor where he edited The Protectors line of comics and many Ultraverse titles.
Currently, Roland teaches creative writing at Full Sail University in Orlando, FL, and runs the small press comic publishing company Silverline Comics.
Roland earned an MFA in Writing from Spalding University, a MA in English from the University of North Alabama, and a BS in Creative Writing from the University of Southern Mississippi.
Thomas Florimonte
Thomas broke into the comic biz way back in the early 90’s. In that 25+ years, he’s racked a long list of comic creator credits and has worked for just about every major publisher out there: Marvel, Malibu, Chaos!, Acclaim, Gallant Comics (to name a few)... His latest projects include new issues of Mystery Girlz, Zomboy: Kid Hero (INFERNO Studios) & Miniature Man series (Gallant Comics / Inks).
Thomas is also co-owner with his long time friend Barry Gregory, of the very popular comic printing company: Ka-Blam Digital Printing- The one stop print house for all comic creators. And also IndyPlanet- An online print-on-demand comics shop that works directly with Ka-Blam. Although never developing a southern accent, Thomas claims he grew up in south Mississippi, he now lives in the central Florida area with his wife Rene’.
