West Coast MegaGames

West Coast MegaGames is a volunteer company interested in designing large format social strategy gaming events and producing them across the West Coast of the United States. We started as "Sacramento MegaGames" and produced our first event the MegaGame "Sengoku" on January 3rd, 2015. 58 players got to experience 3 years of the Sengoku-Jidai and attempt to unify Japan. What is a megagame? Megagames are large social games involving multiple teams of players. The subject matter can range from politics, economics, history, science fiction, or heroic fantasy. Much of what goes on might be described as social play - though there is also a large element of problem solving, strategy, negotiation - and of course, humor. While it's hard to truly describe a Megagame, there is a fantastic video by the Shut Up & Sit Down team showing how it works.
