hey, Stories on Stage Sacramento followers - we're now CapLit! here's one of the very cool things we're doing this year, so take a look at the CapLit page and follow us there!

Hey, friends of CapLit & Capital Stage! A very cool collaboration is afoot. Cap Stage's current production, "The Sound Inside" by Adam Rapp, is about a novelist who teaches fiction at Yale & the fraught relationship that develops between her & a very intense undergraduate student.

On Monday, March 2, 6-8pm, the day after the final performance, our very own Naomi Williams, novelist, creative writing prof, & co-director of CapLit, will be leading "Listening to the Sounds Inside," a mixed-genre, no-experience-necessary creative workshop she designed, inspired by the play (minus the weird interpersonal dynamics!).

It's an in-person workshop convening at CLARA on a pay-what-you-will basis (min. $5), with proceeds split between CapLit & Cap Stage (Naomi is donating her time). There are only 7 spaces left! Go to caplit.org & click on "Classes" to sign up. (You can also sign up through the Cap Stage url in the graphic.)

But first: Go see the play! Tickets available at capstage.org.

New name: same fantastic stories read by actors! And speaking of actors - I'm so happy to introduce you to the trio reading in our upcoming event, Sept 5 at the Auditorium at CLARA

Introducing the actors performing our hauntingly beautiful stories on Friday, September 5:

Tara Harbert - reading "Room 413, Silver Spruce Hotel" by Tim Foley. Tara is a performer specializing in Theater, voiceover, and film, as well as an empowerment coach and educator. She's appeared on professional stages in Sacramento, Los Angeles, and Boston. You may have seen her recently in productions at Capital Stage and Sacramento Theater Company, and with the Sacramento Shakespeare Festival.

George Hillman - reading "Homecoming" by Maureen O'Leary
George is currently completing his BA in Theatre Arts at Sac State. You've seen him recently in productions at Celebration Arts and Big Idea Theater, and he's hoping to enthrall you with the "sweet, booming sound that is his voice."

Nicole Berry - reading "The Corner of Broadway and Badass" by Renee Thompson
Nicole is an Irish-American actor and writer. Born in New York, raised in rural New England, and now living in Sacramento, she recently directed a short horror film entitled "Every Cell," scheduled for release later this year. She's delighted to participate in this event's "eerie vibe."

At the Auditorium at CLARA, Friday September 5. Doors open at 6:30, program begins at 7. Come early for best seats! A $10 donation is suggested.
