Happy Monday everyone.
We’re starting this week focused and building.
Bright Braille will be opening our Community-Based Organization space in Del Paso Heights, located at Marysville and Grand Avenue. Right now, we are in the process of building it out so it can truly serve the community the way it’s meant to.
This space is for support groups, accessibility resources, and education — a place where people living with low vision can come and not feel alone. It’s also for families, friends, and anyone who wants to better understand the spectrum of vision.
This will also serve as our digital access hub. We will be offering support around screen magnification, accessibility features, and hands-on guidance for using iPhones, Androids, and other devices. A lot of people don’t realize the tools already built into their phones — things like dark mode, larger text, and light adjustments — and we want to help make that knowledge accessible.
We’ll also be providing community resource information — not just for vision, but for the community as a whole. This includes information on organizations like the Foundation Fighting Blindness, Society for the Blind, and Lighthouse for the Blind, along with guidance on the types of specialists people may need to see depending on what they’re experiencing.
So many people in our communities are living with diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, cataracts, and other vision conditions — and don’t always know where to start. We want to help bridge that gap, especially when it comes to digital accessibility and independence.
As we continue building this space, we’re reaching out to the community for support.
Bright Braille is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and all donations are tax-deductible.
Right now, we are in need of:
Desks and chairs
Shelving and storage
Printers and scanners
Office supplies like paper, pens, and whiteboards
We are also accepting monetary donations to help us build out the space and expand our programs.
We will also be hosting free vision screenings out front and inviting community partners to come share their services and resources.
If you’ve been watching what we’re building, or if you’ve ever wanted to support something that directly impacts people in your community, this is the moment to tap in.
We are also preparing for Big Day of Giving on May 7th — a regional 24-hour giving event that brings the community together to support local nonprofits.
You don’t have to wait until May 7th — you can support Bright Braille any day of the year using our giving page below.
