Rushford Volunteer Fire Department Demolition Derby We are a small town, all volunteer fire department and rescue squad. The demolition derby is our main fundraiser for the year. Thank you for your support.

I am reposting the rules. We made some changes tonight. Nothing major. Mostly some wording issues. However, we did add a section to the rules for the power wheels. Please make sure you read through all the rules.

Here are the rules for the 2026 Rushford Fire Department Demolition Derby.

General Information
Please be respectful to our officials when calling or texting questions. Do not call after 9pm or before 8am
No one under 16 years old will be allowed in the pits except for youth class drivers! No other exceptions!
No hybrid or electric vehicles!
1. An entry fee of $25.00 will be charged for each car entered. The entry fee must be paid prior to the event. The pit pass is $25 each. Each additional car will be $25.00. There will be NO refund if your car doesn't pass inspection. REGISTRATION CLOSES AT 11:00 SHARP! NO EXCEPTIONS!!! TECH LINES CLOSE AT 11:15!!!!
2. Any driver that becomes unconscious for any reason during a heat will be removed from the heat and evaluated by EMS. If it occurs during a qualifying heat, the driver will have the option to run in the last chance heat, provided EMS gives the ok. Head and neck injuries are automatic disqualification! Rushford EMS will have final say.
3. Cars must be trucked or trailered out after the demo.
4. Each driver must fill out an entry form and sign a waiver of liability. The track reserves the right to approve or reject any and all entries.
5. Anyone requesting a pit pass must show photo id to verify age!
Rules for Drivers
1. The driver must be 18 years of age or older. However, 16 & 17 years old drivers may participate with a minor release signed by a parent or legal guardian. The minor release MUST be signed and witnessed by a demolition derby official at the time of registration. All drivers must show a photo ID!
2. All drivers must wear long pant and long sleeved shirt. (NO SHORTS)
3. All drivers MUST wear a seat belt, helmet, and eye protection at all times while on the track. Neck braces and rollover bars are suggested but not required.
4. No smoking will be allowed on the track or in any car on the track at any time.
5. NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES OR MA*****NA OR MA*****NA INFUSED PRODUCTS are allowed in the pits. Anyone found in violation will be removed!
6. Anyone wishing to enter the pit area must be 16 years of age and have a parent or guardians signature and purchase a pit pass for $25.00 and sign a waiver of liability. NO EXCEPTIONS!
7. Only Demo Vehicles and haulers (no additional vehicles) will be allowed in the pit area. All other vehicles stay out of the pits!! NO EXECPTIONS - We will have other vehicles towed!!!!
8. Any car not removed from Legion Park by 10:00 pm on the night of the demo becomes property of the Rushford Vol. Fire Dept. unless other arrangements are made.
9. Stealing vehicles or parts from vehicles will be reported to the police.
10. The Rushford Fire Department WILL NOT be responsible for cars or property that is lost or stolen.
11. Members of the Rushford Vol. Fire Department may not participate in the demolition derby
12. All demo vehicles will be taken off their trailers in the pits and taken right to the inspection area. The line to inspection will be closed at 11:15 am Sharp!! Any car not in line at that time will not be allowed to enter the derby.
13. Each driver may enter as many cars as he wishes but only one car will be allowed in the feature.
14. Any driver not obeying the rules will be disqualified.
15. TECHS DECISIONS WILL BE FINAL!!!!
General Information
A. Heat winners will be allowed to use another heat car in the feature ONLY if officials determine that his or her car is not safe to run. This must be approved by an official. Cars run in the Main Feature or Best of Show MUST have been entered and run in a prior heat.
B. No car will be allowed on the track prior to the heat in which they are entered. Cars are not to be started after the heat has ended. They must be towed off the track. All cars must remain on track unless told to leave.
C. Drivers may maneuver forward or backward, there will be no deliberate head on collisions or deliberate hitting on the driver’s door.
D. The Judges will allow a time limit (60 Seconds). DO NOT PLAY POSSUM!!!!!
E. JUDGES DECISIONS ARE FINAL!!!!!
F. If car drives out of bounds it will be disqualified, but If car is pushed out of bounds then the car is NOT disqualified he must re-enter in a safe manner. All other cars must let them re-enter in a safe manner as well.
Power Wheels
1. No metal bumpers will be allowed.
2. Ages 3 to 12 years old, provided they can SAFELY fit in the power wheels they want to run.
3. It is a 10 minute run. After it is done, all power wheels will be removed from the track and taken back to the owners vehicle or placed somewhere out of the way. All the kids participating in the power wheels demo will have to be taken out of the track area at this time as well. If the parents are driving in the demo, make arrangements ahead of time for a place for your child to go after the power wheels demo as they cannot be in the pit and track area.
Rules for youth class
Ages 13 thru 16. If you are 16, you can run in either the youth class or with the adults. You CANNOT run in both.
Youth class heat will be the first heat to run. Once the car passes inspection, they will go to the pits like all the other cars. The youth drivers MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A PARENT OR GUARDIAN AT ALL TIMES IN THE PITS!

1. Only 4 and 6 cylinders allowed. No 4 wheel or all wheel allowed.
2. Bumpers:
a. Oem bumpers only. No Dowd or smw bumpers.
b. Oem bumpers may be seam welded.
c. 4x4 3/16” square tube. No points. Capped end with 1 inch hole
d. Can weld bumper to vehicle either top and bottom OR on each side. NO BOXING! No stuffing the frame!
3. Pre bending allowed. Notching is also permitted but no welding back up.
4. Fix it plates only if pre ran. 1 plate 4x6 per side
5. Can raise suspension but must not be solid. It must have bounce.
6. 3 point cage is mandatory, but if youth has a rider, must have 4 point cage in the car. Tank shelf is permitted. Must be on the back seat bar no kicker bars allowed.
7. Dot tires only. Can tube tires but no foam filled tires. You can run solids on the back.
8. No welding doors, hood or trunk. A chain or 9 wire to secure hood and doors.
9. Anti freeze must be taken out and must have a 6 inch hole in the hood.
10. A plate can be put on the drivers door for safety but can only go up 3 inches past the seams. Can be welded or bolted on.
Rules for modified V-8 and Compacts
Powderpuff built up to mod rules
Dowd style bumper and SMW bumpers are legal in every class except youth and stock!
1. Any 2 door or 4 door automobile or station wagon will be allowed. NO limos, ambulances, School buses, or any other commercial vehicle will be allowed.
2. Windshield and all glass must be removed. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!
3. Sun visors, windshield wipers, all lights, mirrors, all chrome/moldings, door handles, antennas, and broken glass MUST be removed. Sunroofs must be removed, and covered.
4. Two 5/16”x1” flat stock or the 5/16” diameter rods must be secured at the top and bottom of the windshield area to prevent the hood from injuring the driver. (Bars can be welded at the top and bottom).
5. Vehicles MUST have a full bench seat or two bucket seats in the front of the car. (If a four point cage is present only one bucket seat is required)..
6. 4 point cage is allowed. Maximum of 6 inch diameter material. Minimum of 4 inch. Cages must be no lower that 12 inches off rocker nothing touching the floor.
7. Gas tank protector 24 inches X 24 inches and no bigger. Door post bar cannot be extended past door post.
8. Halo Bar allowed 4 inch maximum pipe.
9. Interior tank MUST be secured with a minimum of two straps and must be covered with a fire proof shield. If the exterior tank cannot be removed it MUST be punctured to remove fuel (NO dumping fuel on the ground). ANY FUEL LEAK WILL CALL FOR IMMEDIATE DISQUALIFICATION. NO more than 5 gallons of gas allowed.
10. Batteries may be left in the vehicle in front of the firewall in the original location. Battery may be removed and placed in the passenger area and must be securely fastened to the floor with at least 2 straps and Must be covered with a non-metallic cover.
11. All doors, hood, and trunk must be securely fastened with chains, seat belts, or no more than 4 fasteners on each cut off flush. Doors and trunks may be welded 3in. on and 3 in. off
12. Two 8” diameter (minimum) holes one on each side of the hood over the engine compartment are required NO protruding metal.
13. One 4” inspection hole in the trunk lid required NO protruding metal.
14. If Radiator is used it MUST be in the original location water tanks may be used but may NOT be welded to frame, and NOT reinforced in any way. No anti-freeze/coolant allowed. Cooling system must be flushed (no dumping on the ground) ONLY CLEAR WATER NO EXCEPTION. Fan blade MUST be removed if not protected by a fan shroud.
15. Tilting of frame allowed 6inch spacer allowed at the core
16. All vehicles must have functional brakes
17. You may hard nose and do bumper swaps. Nothing more than 6 Inches of metal maybe used to weld bumper on, No reinforcement, or No trailer hitches allowed. May swap out bumper but see 17C for more specific rules. Maybe Seamed welded but end need to remain open. No welding past Core Support. Core support bolts can be 3/4" and all other bolts (like body mounts) no larger than 1/2". No more than 6" of metal can be in frame, welded or not welded. Frames will be drilled and inspected further if judges believe they are questionable.
17a) Fix it plates are for pre-run cars only and if putting fix it plates on welds cannot touch. Fix it plates 4 in X 6 in maximum, 2 per frame rail (2 PER EACH SIDE, 4 TOTAL ON CAR) Rust repair is separate and needs to be called on.
17b) NO foam in frames.
17c) Bumpers front and rear may be 4" X 6" X 3/16" wall with max 4" point over 32" bumper. Bumper can only be as wide as center to center of the front tires. Ends may be capped MUST have 1" hole in each end NO stuffing.
18. Suspension may be stiff. Leaf spring swaps allowed. ½ ton springs max. 5 leafs per a pack. 4 clamps per leaf. Hump plates are ok. One or the other.
19. Trailing arms may be replaced with 2inch by 2 inch box metal
20. Lower engine cradle maybe used to mount engine in cradle. Pulley protector allowed.
21. ONLY the driver’s door is to be painted YELLOW and with NO writing.
22. Numbers must be painted on both doors and roof of the vehicle (please make it legible).
23. NO obscene writing allowed on the vehicle.
24. Body mounts can be removed but factory size hardware must be used to remount the body to the frame, in the factory locations 4 extra body bolts may be used.
25. Any holes in the fire wall MUST be covered with rubber/sheet metal.
26. ANY WELDS NOT DEEMED SAFE OR LEGAL BY AN INSPECTOR WILL BE TOLD TO CUT.
27. GOODIES:
Sliders allowed, steering columns, pedals, shifter, steel bell only no braces, trans coolers,
lower puller proctors, tie rods with factory style ends, small wheel centers, and valve stem
protectors. NO DISTRIBUTOR PROTECTORS, NO SPINLDES, NO BRACED
REARS ENDS. IF TIS NOT ON THE LIST IT'S NOT ALLOWED AT THIS TIME.
28. NO V tread. Nothing over the top aggressive and that's judge's decision. Wheel weights must be removed. No alterations to wheel rims or attachments to rims allowed.
29. Compacts with carb swab can run carb protection only mounted to the top of the engine nothing else and many not add support to anything in anyway.
Rules for Trucks, Vans & SUVs & Includes RULES ABOVE
1. Two-wheel drive or four wheel drive vehicles (if running a four wheel drive either the front or rear driveshaft MUST be removed).
2. Back window MUST be wire mesh.
3. No hitches or other reinforcements.
4. Fuel tanks MUST be boat type behind the cab inside the frame rails and they MUST be fully covered.
5. Tailgates MUST be bolted, chained, wired, or removed
NOTHING MAY BE USED IN ANYWAY TO REINFORCE OR STRENGTHEN THE CAR IN ANYWAY, INSPECTORS DISCRETION WILL COVER ANY AND ALL GRAY AREAS. IF ANY QUESTIONS - CONTACT THE TECHS LISTED.
Any driver not obeying the rules will be disqualified. Decisions to Track Officials will be final.
INSPECTION DOES NOT MAKE THEM LEGAL. Any exception to the rule will be called illegal and the car will be disqualified.
No trackside votes will be taken, Inspectors make final decisions.
SAFETY IS OUR PRIORITY! RULES WILL BE FOLLOWED AS THEY ARE WRITTEN!
STREET STOCK 4&6 CYL AND V8 CLASS
1. Any 1980 and newer 2-wheel drive passenger car.
2. All vehicles must be stripped off all plastic, glass, headlights, taillights and anything else that could fall of onto the track during the show.
3. All vehicles must remain stock, ABSOLUTELY NO WELDING ANYWHERE.
4. Bumpers must remain stock, do not alter bumper in anyway. Factory bumper shocks must remain in factory location. You may remove rear bumpers and shocks. There is no welding to be done on bumpers.
5. Batteries may be left in stock location and spray foam may be added around battery. You may also move battery to passenger floor or seat. Please make sure battery is not moving.
6. If factory gas tank is in front of axle you may leave it there. If it’s behind the axel, you must move it to the rear seat area. Factory tanks may be moved inside but completely secured. After market tanks may be used.
7. All doors may be wired or chained in 6 places max per seam.
8. Trunks, hoods, tailgates, all may be wired or chained in 6 places total. Sheet metal to sheet metal only. Nothing to frame or bumpers. If you remove trunk or tailgate you lose that wire or chain.
9. Rear seat bar may be added. It may be welded to post. If you have to add something to get it away from seat, please call. This is only to stop sides from coming in, not to help any other part of the vehicle.
10. Drivers door only may have a plate welded to the outside or inside. This is for driver safety.
11. DOT tires only. Stock wheels only. All wheel weights must be removed. Only tubes and air are permitted inside of tires. These rules are cut and dry, you should not have to call to ask many questions on this class. If it does not say you can do it then that means YOU CANNOT do it. Quick and easy build.
12. Windshields must be removed.
13. Must cut a 12 inch hole in hood for fire suppression

remember tech has final say
You have the option to call prior to demo with any questions or uncertainty of rules!!! Don’t use it as an excuse! This goes for all classes!!!
ALL CLASSES REMEMBER TO REMOVE WHEEL WEIGHTS
if not removed and caught will be automatic disqualification, this is a safety issue, also was a noted problem from last year

I have seen the comments on the rules post. I think it goes without saying that since we do not allow alcohol in the pits, we certainly will not allow Ma*****na either. Or shrooms or any other intoxicating or impairing substances. Anyone caught will be told to leave.

We want everyone to have a good time and put on a good show. But it has to be done safely. What you do after you leave the pits is your business. While you are in the pits, our rules will be followed.

I will be adding this to the official rules when I have a chance in the next few days.

28. NO V tread. Nothing over the top aggressive and that's judge's decision. Wheel weights must be removed. No alterations to wheel rims or attachments to rims allowed.
29. Compacts with carb swab can run carb protection only mounted to the top of the engine nothing else and many not add support to anything in anyway.
Rules for Trucks, Vans & SUVs & Includes RULES ABOVE
1. Two-wheel drive or four wheel drive vehicles (if running a four wheel drive either the front or rear driveshaft MUST be removed).
2. Back window MUST be wire mesh.
3. No hitches or other reinforcements.
4. Fuel tanks MUST be boat type behind the cab inside the frame rails and they MUST be fully covered.
5. Tailgates MUST be bolted, chained, wired, or removed
NOTHING MAY BE USED IN ANYWAY TO REINFORCE OR STRENGTHEN THE CAR IN ANYWAY, INSPECTORS DISCRETION WILL COVER ANY AND ALL GRAY AREAS. IF ANY QUESTIONS - CONTACT THE TECHS LISTED.
Any driver not obeying the rules will be disqualified. Decisions to Track Officials will be final.
INSPECTION DOES NOT MAKE THEM LEGAL. Any exception to the rule will be called illegal and the car will be disqualified.
No trackside votes will be taken, Inspectors make final decisions.
SAFETY IS OUR PRIORITY! RULES WILL BE FOLLOWED AS THEY ARE WRITTEN!
STREET STOCK 4&6 CYL AND V8 CLASS
1. Any 1980 and newer 2-wheel drive passenger car/ mini-van/ mini-truck/ small suv.
2. All vehicles must be stripped off all plastic, glass, headlights, taillights and anything else that could fall of onto the track during the show.
3. All vehicles must remain stock, ABSOLUTELY NO WELDING ANYWHERE.
4. Bumpers must remain stock, do not alter bumper in anyway. Factory bumper shocks must remain in factory location. You may remove rear bumpers and shocks. There is no welding to be done on bumpers.
5. Batteries may be left in stock location and spray foam may be added around battery. You may also move battery to passenger floor or seat. Please make sure battery is not moving.
6. If factory gas tank is in front of axle you may leave it there. If it’s behind the axel, you must move it to the rear seat area. Factory tanks may be moved inside but completely secured. After market tanks may be used.
7. All doors may be wired or chained in 6 places max per seam.
8. Trunks, hoods, tailgates, all may be wired or chained in 6 places total. Sheet metal to sheet metal only. Nothing to frame or bumpers. If you remove trunk or tailgate you lose that wire or chain.
9. Rear seat bar may be added. It may be welded to post. If you have to add something to get it away from seat, please call. This is only to stop sides from coming in, not to help any other part of the vehicle.
10. Drivers door only may have a plate welded to the outside or inside. This is for driver safety.
11. DOT tires only. Stock wheels only. All wheel weights must be removed. Only tubes and air are permitted inside of tires. These rules are cut and dry, you should not have to call to ask many questions on this class. If it does not say you can do it then that means YOU CANNOT do it. Quick and easy build.
12. Windshields must be removed.
13. Must cut a 12 inch hole in hood for fire suppression

You have the option to call prior to demo with any questions or uncertainty of rules!!! Don’t use it as an excuse! This goes for all classes!!!
ALL CLASSES REMEMBER TO REMOVE WHEEL WEIGHTS
if not removed and caught will be automatic disqualification, this is a safety issue, also was a noted problem from last year
