Testimonial Tuesday!! We will share some photos and some very nice comments from our customers.

2022
We got married at 49 Franklin this past weekend and we could not have possibly asked for a better experience! Scot and Cindy made the entire process so easy for our last minute wedding. They got back to us within hours of our initial email and were so pleasant to deal with the entire time. They took care of all of the details so that we didn’t have to worry about anything! The food was incredible, staff is professional, the DJ and light show was awesome, and they helped plan every last detail to make sure that the night went smoothly. All of our guests raved about this gem of a place and the delicious food! We will absolutely consider going back if we ever need to rent a space like this again. Thanks again Scot and Cindy for making my day SO beautiful and so special - We are so thankful for you both!

Vaudeville was a popular style of theatrical variety entertainment that flourished in the United States and Canada from the 1880s until the early 1930s. It featured a series of unrelated, back-to-back acts on a single bill—including comedians, singers, acrobats, magicians, and trained animals

Vaudeville served as an accessible, family-friendly alternative to rowdy working-class variety shows. It reflected diverse immigrant cultures across America and gave many legendary entertainers—like the Marx Brothers, Will Rogers, and Sophie Tucker—their start.

Vaudeville!

The School of Magic and Showmanship Presents: Vaudeville! The performances are set for Memorial Day weekend, Saturday, May 23rd show at 7:00 pm and Sunday, May 24th show at 1:00 pm. at 49 Franklin in the Mystic Theater in Rumford. Many people are unaware what Vaudeville was and how it shaped modern day performances. Master magician/instructor and owner of 49 Franklin Scot Grassette explains, "Back before computers, TV and even movies, Vaudeville circuits all around the country sent performers out to hundreds of live performance venues all around the country. Many of these stages had footlights which gave a unique underlit lighting which gave off the Vaudeville theater vibe, which can be seen in movies and TV featuring Vaudeville performances. Traditional performances featured 5 to 8 variety and specialty acts that were 10 to 15 minutes long. If audiences didn't like the performance, the management would be forced to give the act a literal hook and pull them off the stage where the next act would quickly move into place."

There are 6 students lined up to perform magic and variety acts in this show; they include Lee Carrier, Asher Maillet, Cohen Carrier, Cleo Hordon, Landyn Cote, and Kevin Homewood. (Allden Gaudet is part of the class but is unable to make it to the performances.)
