🦖 It Takes a Village to Create a Kaiju

The G-FEST model team is thrilled about the new experiences we’re bringing to G-FEST 2026!

This year more than ever, we’re all about sharing skills and building community. Along with our usual panels for all levels of builders, guest interviews, and two Make & Take sessions for kids, we’re especially excited about two brand-new Friday night events!
After the panels on Friday, starting at 4:00 PM:

KAIJU UNIVERSITY

A hands-on beginner workshop for those with limited experience. Get patient mentoring from our experienced crew as you build and paint your own resin kaiju kit.
$100 includes kit, paints, tools, instruction, and supper! Sign up at kaijukastle.org

KAIJU VILLAGE
A relaxed communal build night for more experienced modelers. Bring your unbuilt or unfinished models, work together, share techniques, and inspire each other in a fun maker’s space.

Both events will help create an epic monster invasion on the display tables for G-FEST 31!

For all 3 days, we will be booking appointment slots. Each artist will have their own time slots, and can provide flash options on request.

ONLY WHEN A BOOKING FEE IS PAID WILL YOUR APPOINTMENT SLOT BE SECURED.
3x3 flash are $150. If you know which flash and which time slot you would like, please specify in your message or email to speed up the process. Booking fee for all 3x3 flash is $30

For larger tattoos and availability slots, please reach out to your preferred artist for that information

There are a few artists whose work has become so synonymous with the art on model boxes that their work has fired the imagination of model builders around the world. Possibly the top three of all time would be Shigeru Komatsuzaki, James Bama, and Yuji Kaida. This year the model program at G-FEST 31 is lucky to have Master Kaida as a guest, someone whose work has inspired us all.

Yuji Kaida will be presenting special model panels in the model room, giving fans a rare chance to hear directly from the master. From his early days on Uchusen magazine, where he created blueprints of characters like Robby the Robot and other sci-fi greats, and created science fiction art for the magazine that actually encouraged the creation of original garage kits, he rose to become a sought after illustrator for model kits, video boxes, movie posters and more. Yuji Kaida has inspired kaiju fans and science fiction fans alike. G-FEST and the model program are proud to have him as a special guest.
