We have added another interview from our digital Romeo Peach Festival Oral History Collection to our online catalog!

This year, we talked to RIchard Cory - the man you see here. He reminisced about his time at the Peach Festival, especially as the "Voice of the Peach Parade" with announcing the Floral Parades for over 30 years and being Grand Marshal in 2009. He even shared stories about his achievements in Romeo and the time that a metallic balloon caused a major power outage at one year's Peach Festival.

To learn more about the Romeo Peach Festival Oral History Collection and Richard, check out the article "The Romeo Peach Festival Oral History Collection Part 4" at this link: https://romeocommunityarchives.blogspot.com/2025/10/the-romeo-peach-festival-oral-history.html

We want to thank all the volunteers and Parks and Rec employees who used their Labor Day to stage the parade. Especially thankful for those handling the sometimes difficult job of directing traffic when drivers are upset.
Also thanks to Romeo Police, Macomb Sheriffs and Romeo DPW.
And thanks to all the maybe frustrated, yet polite, drivers navigating road closures. At least Peach Festival only happens once a year!

Our Honored Citizen in the parade was Barb Jacobs who has lived in Romeo for 80 years! She always attends the Peach Festival with her family. This year the Bed Races returned and her family raced as The Barbs and won the race and a best costume award! They celebrated their victory at Dairy Queen!
