Fishers of Men Kayak Fishing Tournament Series Rules
Kayak tournament only. Kayak can be paddled, pedaled, or motored. Entry fees are $20. Each angler in each event will submit up to 3 fish in inches by photo on an approved measuring device, any Ketch board or the YakAttack leaderboard. Each fish must have a noticeable difference. There are no club fees or dues. PFDs must be worn at all times during events. Waiver forms must be signed before taking part in events and will be kept on file so you will only have to sign once.
The tournaments are open to all anglers provided they meet the requirements and honor all rules and regulations stated.
Participation and Eligibility
a. All participants must sign a liability release before the start of their first event.
b. All participants under the age of 18 must provide a liability release before the start of the event signed by a parent or guardian who is present. Parent or guardian must remain with the participant during the tournament.
c. All participants must have a valid fishing license and follow all state governed rules.
Entry Fees
a. Entry fee must be paid PRIOR to the event.
Watercraft
a. Kayaks only.
b. No gas motors permitted.
c. Accommodations will be made for special needs anglers on a case to case basis.
d. All fish must be taken from your vessel.
e. Only one paid entrant per vessel.
Launch Point
a. All entrants will launch from same location unless otherwise noted.
b. All entrants will return to same location unless otherwise noted.
c. All entrants will launch and return at same designated time.
General Rules
a. No fish will be kept in ice chests, baskets, stringers, etc.
b. All fish will be immediately released unharmed after photo has been taken.
c. Each fish can only be submitted once.
d. Any Ketch products board or the Yakattack leaderboard are the only acceptable measuring devices.
Qualifying Fish
a. Black bass (largemouth, smallmouth, spotted, red eye ) must be 12” in length. There is no minimum length for youth division.
b. Fish will be caught, measured, photographed, and released.
c. Fish will be photographed using a smartphone or digital camera.
d. There will be a 3 fish limit unless otherwise noted.
e. Fish may not be restrained in any way to the board. No stringers or grips on fish in photo. Only one hand may be used to hold fish on board.
Check In
a. Entrants must return to the launch point at the designated time.
b. Pictures must be turned in no later than 15 minutes after tournament end time.
c. A penalty of 1” will be assessed every 5 minutes after the turn in period.
d. After 15 minutes, the entrant will be disqualified.
Judging
a. Entrants’ photos will be collected and scored by a designated tournament committee.
b. Photos that do not meet the requirements will be disqualified.
c. Once prizes have been awarded, the tournament will be declared complete.
Scoring
a. Each angler will be given a unique identifier for the day.
b. Identifier must be visible in each photo.
c. The 3 longest lengths added together will be the total score.
d. Fish will be measured to the nearest ¼”, rounding down.
Photo Criteria
a. Photo must include the entire fish. If photo cuts off part of fish, the last measurement visible is what is awarded. ::NO EXCEPTIONS:::
b. Fish must face the left.
c. Lip of fish must be touching end of measuring device and mouth closed. Fish with open mouths will be deducted 1/2” for fish under 18” or 1” for fish over 18”
d. Dorsal fin must be facing upward.
e. Tail unpinched.
f. Fish visibly unharmed.
g. Markings on the measuring device must be clear and legible to the ¼”.
h. Photos must be taken directly from above, not at an angle.
i. Assigned identifier must be visible.
j. Photo must be taken by same angler who caught fish.
k. Any photos with hands or fingers under the fish's gill plate will be disqualified, no exceptions!
l. No restraints around the fish to hold fish to the measuring board.
m. No hands or fingers over the fishes eyes.
n. All photos must have the kayak in the picture.
Measuring Devices
a. THE ONLY ACCEPTABLE MEASURING DEVICE IS THE YAKATTACK LEADERBOARD OR ANY KETCH PRODUCT BOARD::::NO EXCEPTIONS::::
b. Measuring device may be checked at any time.
c. If measure device cannot be read, measurement will be rounded down to nearest legible mark.
d. Measuring devices must be marked to the ¼”.
Rules, Interpretations, and Protests
a. All rules are decided by tournament director.
b. Tournament director’s decisions are final.
c. Any protest shall be immediately directed to the tournament director.
d. If it is brought to our attention within a week after the tournament is over that some form of cheating has taken place, the photos will be subject to an investigation. If the angler accused of cheating is found guilty, he/she will be responsible for returning the prize money and or prizes and will be banned from all future events.
Ties
a. In the event of a tie, the angler with the longest fish in his/hers stringer will break the tie. If there is still a tie, the tie will be split by photo timestamp, earliest time stamp wins
b. In the event of a tie for Big Bass, the angler with the longest fish in his/hers remaining stringer will break the tie. If there is still a tie, the tie will be split by photo timestamp, earliest time stamp wins
All activities will be performed by the individual angler, except in the case of youth anglers. No help shall be given landing, measuring, photographing, or releasing the fish. Tournament director will have final say on disqualification if suspicions are brought forth
