The first race was held in May of 1995 in Memory of Fred Reckards. Fred crafted hundreds of traditional cedar rib & plank canoes at his workshop on the Moose River in Rockwood.

Grand Children, Great Grand Chilldren and Great, Great Grand Children of Fred Reckards & Mert Comstock host this annual celebration in their honor. Toby Reckards Amy Lane
