EXHIBITOR SPOTLIGHT Every new Hinckley motor yacht makes a splash, but interest in its latest model to be launched, the Picnic Boat 39, was especially keen, with 25 orders taken before hull Number One felt its first drop of water last fall. Perhaps this was due to a new design element: a forward cockpit with wrap-around seating that adds considerable deck space for the crew to enjoy. Whatever the reason, this summer, Hinckley Yachts intends to make the Picnic Boat 39 the flagship of its in-water display at the Maine Boat & Home Show, which runs August 7-9 on the waterfront in Rockland. The Picnic Boat 39 is built to high standards, using resin-infused carbon-fiber and E-Glass, lots of varnished teak, and a full suite of electronics. The boat is powered by a pair of 480-hp D6 Volvo diesels that provide plenty of power to cruise comfortably at 34 knots. The helm features both a traditional wheel and a proprietary Jetstick 4 control system, which makes close-quarter handling a breeze.
