Inolvidable is a jukebox musical coming-of-age drama about two young q***r women, Jeni and Maria Jose, who try finding their identity in the midst of family dysfunctionality, past relationships, and evolving communtiy through Juan Gabriel’s iconic music. Jeni’s world gets turned upside down when her estranged mother, Diana, comes back into her life. Trying to reconcile herself with lost time and to seek artistic freedom, Jeni leaves Tia Celia heartbroken and with an empty home. At the same time, Maria Jose finds herself out of her comfort zone when sneaking into a gay bar, el Noa Noa, after an argument with her boyfriend of four years, Andres. Here, Jeni and Maria Jose meet for the first time and embark on a challenging relationship as they both face hardships that keep them from developing their new feelings for one another. It should be noted that the songs used have a few changes in the lyrics for the purposes of this play.
Characters:
**Juanga: Ageless, As el divo himself. Overarching narrator and guide for the two protagonists throughout the play.
**Maria Jose: 20, shy but outspoken, struggling with her identity in the midst of overbearing responsibilities.
**Jeni: 20, confident, on a personal journey of stardom through music and dance.
Tia Celia: 45, strong willed, sensitive, a spitting image of her niece, Jeni.
Diana: 30, Jeni’s absent mother.
Andres: 20, a direct and confident young man. An as***le, who doesn’t know he’s an as***le. .
