What an amazing day. The 13th Annual Riverside Tamale Festival was one to remember! Thank you to all the volunteers, vendors, artists, artisans, community partners, talent, and sponsors who made this event possible. Special thanks to for all the support. And most of all, thank you to every single person who showed up! Your support and generosity will make a major impact on the restoration of the Adobe and the upcoming development of La Placita Park. Can’t wait to do it again next year!

Ahmed Belloso of stopped by the Trujillo Adobe and La Placita yesterday to remind everyone that the 13th Annual Riverside Tamale Festival is THIS SATURDAY!!! Proceeds go to support the efforts of to preserve and restore the adobe. This year we are raising funds for the educational panels that will go into the upcoming La Placita Park through . Pre-sale ends tonight! $20 pre-sale, $25 at the door. Seniors, Vets, and Military $10 online or at the door. 12 & under free! Admission includes all day entertainment including at 5:45pm. Bring your chairs, your blankets, and your appetites! It’s a full day of festival fun!!!

Tamales aren’t just food. They’re tradition you can hold in your hands.

At Christmas, tamales mean family gathered around the table, stories being passed down, and generations working side by side. Someone spreads the masa, someone adds the filling, someone folds, someone steams. Everyone belongs. Everyone contributes.

Tamales show up when it matters most. Births. Weddings. Holidays. Hard times. Celebrations. They take time, patience, care and community. You don’t rush tamales. You make them together.

So when we make tamales at Christmas, we’re not just eating. We’re honoring our ancestors, our culture, and the people who taught us how to show love through food.
